God is our Father

God is our Heavenly Father. From before creation God predestined us to be his children.

Read Ephesians 1:3-5. according to this text biblical we can see several things:

For love and for his pure affection he predestined us to be adopted children (then we are children for his love)…

christian sermons

God is our Heavenly Father.

We are children through Jesus Christ (it is only through Jesus that we receive that privilege and that powerful condition).
Chosen from before creation to be holy and blameless before him (then the identity of children generates a transformation of life).

He blessed us with every spiritual blessing in Christ (besides, out of love, God the Father established a unique and abundant inheritance for his children).

In light of all this we can see that one of God’s objectives in creating the human being was to have children, he planned to have a large family, that is why He is God and Father of all (Ephesians 4:6).

When a father on earth expects a child, he prepares his room, makes arrangements at home and prepares the other children, in the same way God the Father prepared the earth, organized Eden and arranged everything for the arrival of his children. He loves his children much more than the fathers of the earth love theirs.

The Father in the New Testament:

Without a doubt, it is in the New Testament (by the same work of Jesus) where we find the greatest revelation of the heavenly Father. Let’s look at the meaning of the Greek words used for the Father in the New Testament:

This term that in the first instance means “Father” has other very important meanings in light of our theme. Pater also means: nurturer, protector and sustainer. Reading John 1:12-13 we see that we are begotten by the will of God, and that makes him our provider, protector and the One who sustains us.

b) “Abba”:

This word is used in the New Testament three times. “Abba” is the word formed by the child’s lips, and implies trust and familiarity. Then Jesus addresses God as a child does with his father: Mark 14:36 (“Abba, Pater”) in full confidence of protection and strength. It shows a relationship of closeness and personal intimacy.
We see the word also in Romans 8:15 where God has not given a spirit of adoption by which we can grow and strengthen our relationship with the “Abba, Pater” in full trust without fear, a relationship that consequently strengthens the faith of the son in the power of his Father. God’s desire is that we develop much more our Father and son relationship with him.
In Galatians 4:6 we are taught that God sent the “Spirit of his Son” in this case speaks of the Holy Spirit who reveals and bears witness to the work of Jesus for us, and through him we can cry: “Abba, Father” . Now we see here that the Holy Spirit also wants to lead us to a greater growth in the relationship with the Father, in an atmosphere of family trust.
Verse seven reminds us that knowing and accepting the divine fatherhood is fundamental to experiencing the inheritance in Christ.

Through the term “Abba” God teaches us that he is a loving Father, close and present, familiar and personal. Jesus wants us to know the heavenly Father much more, just as the Holy Spirit seeks the same. Unfortunately, and in general, the image of the heavenly Father is distorted.

Many people conceive of God as a distant (absent) being, an old man in a bad mood, or as a punishing being. However, reading the Bible we see that he is full of love, kindness, close and merciful.
Possible obstacles to receiving the fatherhood of God:
In general, religion teaches us a distant God, demanding with many religious routines. Almost unattainable, a severe and harsh judge in dealing with human beings.
Not interested in the personal difficulties of humans. Let us remember that Jesus forcefully confronted the religion that had been established by priests and Pharisees in his time.
2) Our experience in the family.

We must recognize that God established an earthly father for each person, so that each child assimilates the meaning and reality of what “father” means. Then that earthly father becomes the one who replaces God in his paternity, and the good or bad relationship with the earthly father comes to determine the relationship with the heavenly Father.

Our identity is the result of several factors, the most important being our upbringing at home.
When we are born again we receive a new identity, it is spiritual and superior to the earthly one. Now we are children of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, children of the Almighty, children of the Creator of all things, children deeply loved by the heavenly Father, so much so that he gave his firstborn Son to have us. It is essential to be aware of this and take ownership of it.
It was God himself who designed the home as the space of formation, protection and provision for children. Precisely for this reason the devil attacks God’s model in many ways, through domestic violence, divorce, abuse, mistreatment and rejection of children, abandonment of the home, etc.
That is why there are many people with wounds or deep pain due to rejection, abuse, abandonment by their parents, among others. And when coming to Jesus it is difficult to accept and live the paternity of God. We talk about situations like:
Attempted abortion by her parents.
Violence and physical and verbal aggression by their parents.
Abandonment by one or both parents.
Sexual abuse received from their parents.
Parents who did not provide for their needs.
Parents who were not expressive in their affection, nor were they providers of love.

Jesus also experienced very difficult moments, from the womb when Joseph and pregnant Mary fled from Herod, when his family thought he was crazy when they said “he is out of his mind”, among others. That is why he understands us perfectly, and he wants to heal our hearts and bring us closer to the heavenly Father.

Our heart needs to be healthy and free, to receive God’s fatherhood and be better fathers and husbands on earth.
Only in God our soul finds answer and true provision. Only God truly satisfies the spiritual and emotional need that the human being requires, only God can minister and heal paternal voids and restore our identity: Psalm 27:10.
We are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, that is why the Scripture also says that Jesus Christ is the firstborn among many brothers. Thank you God for giving us the great privilege and honor of being your children.
