Trust, you will see the glory of God

Reflection: Trust, you will see the glory of God.

“Jesus said to him: Have I not told you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?”, John 11:40.

It is fundamental to approach what the Lord Jesus meant, to consider the context of these words. Lazarus, brother of Martha and Mary has died, and this was a family that the Lord Jesus loved in a special way.

The sisters had sent for the Lord, but he had taken longer than they expected. The fact is that when Jesus arrived, Lazarus had already died.

In the previous verse, Jesus requests that they remove the stone from the tomb where the body of Lazarus was, and Martha’s words show us her disbelief and her disappointment, because she told the Lord: “Lord, it stinks now, because it is four days old. ”, John 11:39.

So, faced with that attitude of disbelief, Jesus responds to Martha, an answer that teaches us several things, let’s see the answer in detail:

“I have not told you that”, is the first sentence, and it implicitly tells us that Martha had forgotten the words that the Lord Jesus had previously taught her about faith.

“If you believe, you will see the glory of God”, tells us that the Lord wants to perform powerful miracles in our favor, he longs to manifest his glory and power in our favor; however, he requires our faith, which is why he says “if you believe.”

The Scripture tells us that “Without faith it is impossible to please God”, therefore, our confidence in the power and care of the Lord is fundamental; besides, faith is the prelude to the supernatural, this faith promotes the manifestation of the glory of God.

An important detail is found in Marta’s expression when she says: “he died four days ago”, indicating that there was no longer any possibility of a solution; but, Jesus is never late, nor is he early, he always arrives at the right time, and nothing can stop his power, nor his purposes.

As the rest of the biblical passage teaches us, the Lord Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, demonstrating once again his power over death and over all the power of the devil.

So, despite the obstacles and adversities we must maintain our faith and trust in Jesus, he never delays, at the right time he will manifest his glory in our favor.
