HOW TO OVERCOME AND OVERCOME OBSTACLES

Introduction: (How to overcome and overcome obstacles) The great victories in the history of mankind, and even the great victories of the Bible, all of them required courage from their protagonists.

Well, when you propose something significant in life, this will not come easily, it would not be a great victory. God has called us to be more than conquerors. Let’s see this interesting study

HOW TO OVERCOME AND OVERCOME THE OBSTACLES OF LIFE

YO. THE CHRISTIAN IS CALLED TO VICTORY.

a) The way of the Lord contains obstacles to overcome (2 Samuel 5:17-18).

Note: The Philistines find out that David had been anointed king of Israel so they come to make war against him. When God gives us something new, or we advance to a new level, the enemy will seek to hinder God’s plan with us.

The Philistines came to Refaim whose word means “valley of the giants”, the Refaites were giants, remember that Goliath was a Philistine. Surely they felt safe and winners fighting there. David then faces a problem or an obstacle to overcome.

b) David’s victory was the result of his obedience (2 Sam. 5:19-20).

Note: God gives instructions to David, and he obeys. That place was called Baal-perazim, which means:
1. The Lord breaks the enemy,
two. The Lord makes a way for me.
We talk about the place of victory. Where surely others have failed, but the important thing is that God is with us. David says that the action of the Lord was “like a rushing current”, he makes us think of the pressure of the waters that break the walls of a dam… and his power swept away everything. Brothers, our God is Almighty, there is nothing difficult for him, with his power we can overcome and overcome obstacles

II. CORRECT RESPONSES TO OBSTACLES:
a) Assimilate the divine formation (2 Sam. 5:22).
Note: They had already had a battle, but God continues to form in David and his men his character. On the path of the Lord will come other resistances and moments to overcome, behind all that, there are new lessons from the Lord for his children.

The correct attitude is not to give up, but to mature. The enemy of Christian maturity is stubbornness, self-sufficiency, the self. But submitting to God honors his Name and is a blessing to us.
b) Consult the Lord (2 Sam. 5:23-24).

Note: “When David consulted Jehovah, he answered him”, consult from the Hebrew translates: “ask”, “ask for permission”, “find out”. God does not always move in the same way, this time he moved in a different way (cf. Vrs 19).

That is why it is essential to depend on God, on his direction and on his times. Our obedience to God today will determine our victory tomorrow.

c) Have courage (2 Samuel 5:25).
Note: Sometimes when faced with difficulties or obstacles, the response is to run away, give up, or leave everything; but actually this is the easiest. David chose to do battle with the forces of God. He pursued his enemies from Geba to Gezer (a distance of approx. 30 km, about two days’ journey and pursuit).

Effort and courage are definitely required to achieve those conquests planned by our God for us. The enemy of courage is fear. But persevere, advance, because God has not given us a spirit of cowardice but of power, love and self-control.
d) Conviction of the power of God.
Note: There are obstacles, difficulties and situations that only a miracle can change. But, for God there is no difficult thing, because by his power the immense walls of Jericho fell, the giant Goliath was defeated, and entire armies fled. Simply trust in God, he will not fail you, remember “whoever believes in him will never be ashamed”. By the power of God we can overcome and overcome obstacles.
Conclusion: Jesus Christ has not changed. He continues to perform miracles, but he expects faith and perseverance in his children. What is impossible for men is possible for God.

God will always help you.
