THE ANOINTING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

e) The work and anointing of the Holy Spirit in the life of Jesus was a vital aspect in his earthly life.

Throughout the gospels, we can see that in the earthly life of the Lord Jesus, the Holy Spirit played a fundamental role. Without a doubt, God allowed this to be embodied in his word to teach us the powerful work that the Holy Spirit can also do in and through us. The anointing of the Spirit of God has been poured out on the church for it to advance in victory over the enemy.

A very particular moment in which the anointing of the Holy Spirit on the Lord Jesus was manifested was at the crucifixion. The word of God tells us, according to the Letter to the Hebrews 9:14 that “…Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, will cleanse your conscience from dead works so that you may serve the God who lives.” eforever”.

As we see in this biblical text, the anointing of the Holy Spirit rested on the Lord Jesus strengthening him to go to the cross, the passage literally tells us that: “through the eternal Spirit he offered himself”, the word “offered” is translated from the Greek term “prosféro”, which also means: to appear before, to carry out.

It was then very important, the work of the Holy Spirit for Jesus to go to the cross. We can remember here that the Lord’s disciples were afraid to go to Jerusalem, but the Bible tells us about Jesus:

“When the time was fulfilled in which he was to be received up, he set his face to go to Jerusalem”, according to the Gospel of Luke 9:51; because it is written in the Bible itself: “God has not given us a spirit of cowardice, but of power, love and self-control”, according to 2 Timothy 1:7.

It is the power, strength or anointing of the Holy Spirit that sustains us in trials and difficult moments that are in the will of God (because for Jesus, going to the cross was part of the path that the Master had to walk).

Faced with the challenges, crises or obstacles in our lives, we must turn to our communion with the Holy Spirit to be strengthened and move forward in the divine plan. It is very important to keep in mind the work and anointing of the Holy Spirit (The Paraclete) in the life of the son of God.

We must also take into account the powerful manifestation of the Holy Spirit in the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: “And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your bodies.” mortals by His Holy Spirit who dwells in you,” according to the Epistle to Romans 8:11.

As the text teaches us, the power of the Holy Spirit raised the Lord Jesus from the dead, and in the same way quickens our lives to walk in newness of life.

We must consider that just as one day the Holy Spirit came upon Mary and gave birth to Jesus, also on the third day, he came upon Jesus and raised him from the dead. It is important to keep in mind that the term “resurrection” is translated from the Greek word “anastasis”, which also means: Get up, stand up.

So, by the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit, we can stand and move forward; and if you stumble, by the Spirit of God, get up and move forward, God is with you. The anointing of the Lord is upon you to overcome.

In the Bible we can clearly and forcefully see that God is faithful and did not forsake his Son Jesus in the most critical moment of his life, but rather strengthened him before the cross and raised him from the dead by power and anointing. Holy Spirit.

As Christians, we can be confident in the Lord, he strengthens us by his Holy Spirit to overcome obstacles along the way, and rise up in the face of adversity. Let us strengthen our fellowship with the Holy Spirit, and move towards God’s purpose.
