Free by the power of God

Written power sermons. Sermon: Free by the power of God

Introduction: Through the word of God we can see that when the Lord Jesus appears in Israel exercising the ministry that the Father had given him, the lives of many were powerfully transformed.

The Bible tells us that many were healed, delivered, restored, forgiven; and the same Scripture teaches us that the Lord Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday and today and forever, he continues to perform miracles today

1) First of all, let us see the condition of the sick woman.

The Bible tells us in the Gospel of Luke 13:10-11 that “Jesus taught in the synagogue on the Sabbath; and there was a woman there who had had a spirit of infirmity for eighteen years, and she was bent over, and she could not straighten up at all.”

She was a pious and God-fearing woman. The Lord Jesus came to this synagogue to teach (a fundamental part of the ministry of Jesus). Only Jews and Gentile proselytes entered the synagogue (she was a Jew and was worshiping the Lord), there were many synagogues at that time, but Jesus was in this one and when he is there anything can happen, His presence transforms our circumstances.

This woman tells us the Scripture had been under affliction for eighteen years. She had been “having a spirit of infirmity” for eighteen years, this woman although she was Jewish, she was under the covenant, she was a descendant of Abraham, and she attended the synagogue constantly.

But, despite all this unclean spirit afflicted her, tormented her, she tried to live a normal life, perhaps she tried to help herself with something, but this was something spiritual (not all illness has a demonic origin, but for all the Lord Jesus is ours). healer.

Trying to get closer to the reality of this woman, we can imagine her physically bent over (from the Greek language this expression means: “she could not straighten up completely”), so the spiritual condition, became evident in natural life, she “was hunched over”.

Furthermore, logically I believe, her conjugal, family, social and spiritual life was deeply affected by this, since for the Hebrew mind, she was under a curse, in hidden sin or under divine punishment.

We can also consider that that hunched figure speaks to us of a spiritual or emotional burden that he was carrying, and it was so heavy that he had weakened his strength (we can consider things such as: crises, wounds, fear, worry, failure, resentments, frustrations, past affectations , among other things).

two) Second, let us consider God’s love for her.

The Scripture tells us according to Luke 13:12-13 that “When Jesus saw her, he called her and said to her: woman you are free from your disease. And he laid his hands on her; and she straightened up afterwards, and she glorified the Lord.”

As we can see, the Lord Jesus acts on our behalf. We must highlight everything that the Master did for her:

“he saw”,

“I call her”,

“he said” and

“I touch it”.

Surely, the rejection experienced was strong and constant, perhaps it was not important to men, but Jesus saw it; perhaps no one took her into account, but the Lord called her; perhaps few spoke to him, but Jesus spoke to him; Perhaps her husband had not touched her for many years, nor did her family hug her, but the Lord Jesus touched her. Thank God that her arms are always open to receive us.

Through the work of the Lord Jesus with this woman, we can conclude that the Lord wants you to lift up your head. The passage literally tells us that: “she straightened herself up and glorified God”, for eighteen years her eyes were looking at the ground, her self-esteem was damaged, and her affliction weighed heavily, but now all this is changed. .

The Bible tells us that she “straightened up”, this word from the Greek language is “anorthoo” which also means: restore, restore, straighten and rebuild. This is what our good God does.

Before the glory of God and the power of the Lord Jesus, this woman straightens up and “glorifies God”, praises the Lord, most likely that situation did not allow her to flow in a powerful adoration, but now she lives a new level of adoration, presence of God, a new level of glory, something she had never experienced before, she experiences a powerful release in her soul, body and spirit and enters into a new freedom to worship God.

Let’s get closer to God, the Lord has the power to touch you, to restore your life, to renew your worship of the Lord. I don’t know what can keep you upside down (maybe it’s problems, setbacks, drugs, marital crisis, disappointments, witchcraft, financial bankruptcy, or many other things), but I can tell you that the Lord Jesus is Almighty God, he could help you and set you free.

There are obstacles that we must overcome and this is possible with the help of God. Do not allow religion to separate you from the true God and from all that he has for you: Luke 13: 14-15 “But the ruler of the synagogue, angry that Jesus had healed on the Sabbath…”. Remember, there is no greater enemy than our God, because Jesus himself exhorted him because of the hardness of the heart.

c) Thirdly, let us see the power of Jesus Christ breaking the chains.

The Bible tells us in the Gospel of Luke 13:16 “And this daughter of Abraham, whom Satan had bound for eighteen years, was she not to be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?”

She was, the Bible tells us, “a daughter of Abraham.” Phrase that tells us about inheritance, she had the right to messianic blessings, to Abraham’s blessing, she was their sister (they were all descendants of Abraham… if they untied an ox on the Sabbath day to take it to drink, how not to untie this woman of that demon bondage?).

The word of God teaches us that those chains were broken by the Lord Jesus, he broke that bond (word that is translated from the Greek term “dismon”, which also means: chain, rope with which the oxen are tied to the yoke, prison, shackle of a prisoner, prison, incapacity or illness, it is interesting to see that the interlinear Greek-Spanish text translates: “bond”).

This woman was looking for God, she went to the synagogue, but one day, Jesus was there and her life was transformed, that meeting was different because the Lord was there, just like today, he continues to transform and restore lives, he continues to do miracles.

Final reflection: Our good God sent his Son Jesus to save the world and that salvation is integral, that is why in him we find forgiveness, healing, freedom, victory, and eternal life. The Lord Jesus is Almighty and continues to transform lives.

Written sermon 1: The power of God overcomes all problems.

Introduction: The word of God teaches us that when the disciples of the Lord Jesus were going in the boat to the land of Gadara, a great storm arose, and it was so strong that they thought that he was going to die there.

However, the Lord Jesus calmed that powerful storm, and said to them: “Why are you so frightened? How do you not have faith? They were full of fear and their faith was at the lowest level; however, there was Jesus, and that is the most important thing. The power of God will always be stronger than any problem.

We cannot ignore the machinations of the enemy, the darkness seeks to hinder the advancement of the purposes of the Lord. The Scripture tells us in the book of Acts 4:1-4 that “While they were speaking to the people, the priests came over them with the chief of the temple guard, and the Sadducees, resentful that they taught the people, and announced in Jesus resurrection from the dead.

And they laid hands on them, and put them in jail until the next day, because it was already late. But many of those who had heard the word believed; and they were about five thousand in number, the men who obeyed the call of God.”

As the context of this biblical passage teaches us, the apostles Peter and John had been used by God to heal a man lame from birth who sat begging at the beautiful gate, at the entrance to the temple in the city of Jerusalem. That miracle was used by God to captivate the attention of all the people there, and at that time Peter preached.

The word of God teaches us in verse four that approximately five thousand (5,000) men believed, then it is probable that fifteen or twenty thousand people in total (including women and children) believed the gospel message. This was a great victory and conquest for the advancement of the kingdom of God.

Almost simultaneously, the Bible tells us that the priests, the chief of the guard and the Sadducees, resentful (anger mixed with jealousy or envy) for that teaching, captured Peter and John, and took them to jail where they were kept. until the next day to judge them.

Of course, behind those priests and Pharisees, was the inspiration of the kingdom of darkness, which uses different people and reasons to hinder or prevent the extension of the kingdom of our God.

As we can see, the devil used the resentment or anger that was in their hearts, that is why the Scripture tells us: “resentful that they taught the people.” They did not want there to be other leaders, other teachers, they did not want to lose the religious power that they had at that time. They did not want the Lord Jesus to reign, that was for them the loss of their government, power and influence.

The word of God clearly teaches us that a healthy heart is essential to understand the purposes of the Lord; because when the person has resentments, hatred, wounds, envy, complexes, and many other things, the enemy can operate from there, and unfortunately, we ourselves can become obstacles to the work of the Lord, and the devil did so with the Sadducees and priests.

As we read, the Lord finally gave victory to Peter and John, apostles who continued to preach the gospel of the Lord Jesus, and “With great power the apostles bore witness to the Lord Jesus” the book of Acts 4:33 tells us. Therefore, no matter the opposition of darkness, the power of God will prevail at all times.

We must keep in mind that the apostles, Peter and John, were serving God, they preached the Lord’s message and therefore, he was committed to them and did not forsake them. Strong was the opposition and the obstacles were great, but the power of God will always be on our side.
