The most terrible of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ is that, throughout the history of mankind, He was the only innocent of any crime or sin! Yes, Christ died because of sin, but not their own.
When the apostle Paul said that “all have sinned” and that “the wages of sin is death” (Romans 3:23; 6:23), he referred to the first-century Christians only? Or he talked about the sins of all mankind?
Consider what the apostle John explains:
“And he [Jesus Christ] is the propitiation for our sins; and not only for ours but also for the whole world “(1 John 2: 2, emphasis added).
“Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29, emphasis added).
“… We know that this man really is the Savior of the world, the Christ” (John 4:42, emphasis added).
Jesus, the Messiah, was not sentenced to death for having committed a crime against the authorities or for having sinned. Christ died for all the sins that human beings have committed throughout history. When he was nailed to the cross, He bore the weight of lies, theft, murder and any other sin has been committed.
The shed blood of Jesus made forgiveness possible both sins that had been committed so far, and those who would be committed in the future, provided there is repentance.
