The Omnipotence Of God According To The Holy Scriptures

God’s Omnipotence it is one of its attributes, which comes to base the power of this divine being. This attribute shows that God is the Almighty and this characteristic of God means that nothing is impossible for Him and there is nothing that is difficult for Him

«And looking at them, Jesus said to them: For men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible” (Matthew 19:26)

God’s Omnipotence

When speaking of omnipotence this word comes from “omnipotent” which comes from the Latin “omnipotent” that comes from “omni” which means everything, and the word “potens” which means powerful, this means that it is almighty and it refers to the attribute of having infinite or limitless power.

In this sense, God is infinite in his power, because for him nothing is impossible, the omnipotence of God is seen from creation and preservation of the universe and the human race. God created everything with the power of his voice, for he only opened his mouth, and everything was created.

And God made the expanse, and separated the waters that were under the expanse, from the waters that were above the expanse. And it was like that” (Genesis 1:3,6-7)

That means that the omnipotence of God allows him to do what he wants, and nothing or no one can stop itbecause he is almighty.

“All that the Lord wills, he does, in heaven and on earth, in the seas and in all depths” (Psalm 135:6)

The attribute of the omnipotence of God shows that He is in control of nature, all animals, oceans, mountains, earthquakes, blizzards, whirlwinds, tempests, the sun, moon, and stars

“When I see your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you formed” (Psalms 8:3)

Through him all things that exist were created through his power.

“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For in him all things were created, things in heaven and things on earth, visible and invisible; be thrones, be dominions, be principalities, be powers; everything was created through him and for him. “I know well that you can do everything, that it is not possible to thwart any of your plans.” (Job 42:2)

The theme of God’s omnipotence extends to governments and their leaders because He has power in everything, even in relation to those who reign or position themselves in a nation, thus allowing the way according to their plans and purposes.

«He changes the times and the ages; he removes kings, and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise, and knowledge to the discerning” (Daniel 2:21)

In the same way, omnipotence can be seen represented as the God incarnate in jesus christ, which is omnipotent. His power was seen in the miracles he performed, and in his numerous healings, in the feeding of the five thousand

«Then he took the five loaves and the two fish, and raising his eyes to heaven, he blessed, and broke the loaves, and gave them to his disciples so that they could set them before them; and he divided the two fish among all. And they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and what was left of the fish. And those who ate were five thousand” (Mark 6:41-44)

In the same way, the omnipotence of God in Jesus He manifested that He had the power to lay down His life and to take it up again, a fact that He narrated in an allegorical way, when He spoke about the temple.

“Jesus answered and said to them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then the Jews said, This temple was built in forty-six years, and will you raise it up in three days? But he spoke of the temple of his body »(John 2: 19-21)

Knowledge of God’s Omnipotence for Man

«But I will sing of your power, and I will praise your mercy in the morning; Because you have been my refuge. And refuge in the day of my distress” (Psalms 59:16)

“Who comforts us in all our tribulations, so that we too can comfort those who are in any tribulation, through the comfort with which we are comforted by God” (2 Corinthians 1:4).
