A statement we often hear is that mothers wear many different hats. They are not really hats as such, but we play several different roles to satisfy all kinds of needs. We can mention some of the roles or hats that mothers wear: nutritionist, chef, teacher, banker, lawyer, private investigator, driver, gardener, therapist, comedian, counselor, and other roles.
Mothers are all this and much more, but the most significant thing is that they are a reflection of God’s love.
In this month of May that Mother’s Day is celebrated in our country, in addition to celebrating our mothers who are still with us, I want to urge you to take time to remember our mothers and grandmothers who today only live in our hearts.
It has been 9 years since my mother left this world in a surprising way. Time has definitely eased the pain of separation, but time has also faded my memories. Certain circumstances in my life have caused me to think a lot about her, miss her, and reflect on what a blessing she was to me. As the years go by, I never tire of repeating with absolute certainty that after God I am convinced that the person who has loved me the most in this world was my mother.
Mothers are definitely one of the ways that God uses to show us how He loves us and how He, being God, can love us even more than they themselves.
Let’s see in what ways mothers are a reflection of God’s love. Jeremiah 31:3 tells us “From afar the Lord appeared to him, saying, With eternal love I have loved you, that is why I have attracted you with mercy.” ‘Eternal love’. Is there anything more lasting than mother’s love?
From the moment of conception, there is a oneness between mother and child that is sacred in the eyes of God. A mother’s love for her son is the closest thing to God’s love for humanity and especially her love for her children: Imperishable, eternal.
Gods fiel and mothers are too. Mothers never abandon, deny, or reject their children when they are rebellious, disobedient, or disrespectful. The love for their children makes them long-suffering, kind, patient and resistant despite the great pain they feel in their hearts at certain times and circumstances.
God is a good listener and mothers are too. Godly mothers are known to keep their tongues and egos in check when dealing with their children. Mothers know that a harsh and insensitive word could do enormous emotional damage to their child. Being wise, godly mothers know that nothing works better than prayer and a listening ear.
God gives good gifts and mothers too. I remember now how my mother always provided that “extra” that made my life more comfortable and convenient. She always kept money from the household budget for small details that were impressive to me, like for that new dress for that special activity that she was invited to, or so that I could attend some special classes that I wanted.
In the same way, God makes sure that we never lack for anything in any aspect of our lives and His delivery time is incomparable. We see in 2 Kings 4:1-7 how Elisha was sent to a widow in times of need. In 2 Kings 4:8 we see how Elisha himself was provided with a house by a Shunammite woman for room and board in a particular town. Let’s not forget how God gave Solomon riches and fame in abundance as well as enormous wisdom.
As daughters of God, we cry out to the Lord and seek to hear us. God listens to our claims and complaints, and he speaks to us in a soft voice to bring clarity and wisdom to our situation, but only if our ears are open. Sometimes He calms the storm for us and other times He calms us in the midst of the storm.
God’s love through forgiveness is pointed out in Psalm 130:3-4. “Lord, if you counted iniquities, who, oh Lord, could remain? But in you there is forgivenessso that you may be feared”. Where do we find a greater reflection of God’s love than in a mother’s forgiveness? And in that part “so that you are feared” … many mothers know how to apply it. There are times when children have to learn that love has a soft side as well as a hard side.
God sacrificed His Son for us. John 3:16 tells us that “God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”. To love is to give, to give for the reason that what others receive from what you give them will satisfy their deepest needs and bless them in the highest way. God did that for us in giving the life of his only child to meet our deepest need to have our sentence of sin removed and forgiven and to bless us in the highest way by bringing our dead spirit to life in union with Jesus Christ. That is sacrificial love!
Mothers reflect that kind of sacrificial love in so many ways, through the many different roles they fill, or by wearing all those different hats we talked about at the beginning. The thing is, many times they don’t think of it in terms of “being a sacrifice” but they just think in terms of “being a mother”.
Mothers are always on their children’s side, no matter where they are, praying all they can, serving in all they can, and doing all they can to help them be all they can be for God’s intended purposes. has created.
Mothers are definitely a reflection of God’s love.
