If the Son sets you free, you will be truly free.

If the son frees you, you will be truly free, It is a statement that Jesus made when he spoke that the kingdom of heaven came to bring freedom to people and it would be through Him who would free them from the slavery of sin.

These words given by Jesus taught his disciples and followers that through him freedom would come to their soulsand they could know everything that the Heavenly Father had prepared for their lives.

If the Son sets you free, you will be Truly Free

God’s plan in sending Jesus to earth was to bring the true freedom that man needed, since He says that he had come so that all men could be truly freethat is to say that they did not have a genuine freedom but a fleeting one, and that is why he said the following:

“And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. They answered him: We are Abraham’s lineage, and we have never been slaves to anyone. How do you say: You will be free? Jesus answered them: Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. And the slave does not stay in the house forever; the son does remain forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:32-36).

Through these words it can be deduced that the human being cannot have on his own freedom from sinbut that it comes from outside, since despite the fact that they can make an effort to get rid of sin, they will get tired of it, and they will not be able to have enough strength to discard those carnal works.

And before that Jesus explained that in order to achieve that freedom they must know the truth: “and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32), and that truth to which He was speaking was closely related to Himself and to His presence on earth that would lead to the fulfillment of God’s plan of salvation: “If the Son sets you free, you will be truly free.”

This means that the only option to have freedom is found through Jesus Christ, however the man accustomed to the carnal works refuses to receive that true freedomwhich will lead you to the prophetic destination of prosperity, abundance, healing and above all to eternal salvation in the presence of God.

Type of Freedom brought by Jesus

When analyzing the freedom that Jesus brought to the people of Israel, many of them thought they were going to to be released from the yoke of Romeand that is why they saw Jesus as that promised Messiah who would lead them to victory, and would restore that independence they had lost because of their disobedience.

But that was not the true freedom that Jesus came to implant on earth, it was not of the political type, but rather it was related to the strongest slavery that man has and it is sinthe works of the flesh that sinful nature that since Adam has caused man to stray from the presence of God.

He is referring to a spiritual freedom that comes to release them from the chains of sin, and all those negative consequences for people’s lives, thus allowing the justification from all sins and eternal salvation.

“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life; and he will not come into condemnation, but he has passed from death to life” (John 5:24)

All this allowing to have a release from all the senses of guilt, and to have a peace of mind, and to be renewed through the Holy Spirit to make those new creatures born in Christ Jesus, and have a holiness before God breaking the chains of oppression of sin.

“For if the blood of bulls and goats, and the ashes of the calf sprinkled on the unclean, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, how much more the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself to himself blameless to God,

cleanse your consciences of dead works so that you may serve the living God? So, for this reason he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that death intervening for the remission of the transgressions that were under the first covenant, those called receive the promise of eternal inheritance »(Hebrews 9: 13-15)

All this leads to the fact that Jesus came to redeem all people and to be able to bring freedom from slaverysaid term is constantly associated with God, and it is through his son that he brings that freedom to all those who believe in him and he did it through a sacrifice on a cross.

“In Christ we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins according to the riches of his grace.” (Ephesians 1:7)

What are they free from?

Through Jesus people can receive freedom from various things among the most prominent are the following:

They are free from Ignorance

The holy scripture says that “and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free…” This is revealing that man can boast of having a lot of wisdom but the only truth that will allow him to bring freedom is the one found in the Holy writings, since in it are the most valuable secrets that a person on earth can have, and they are given by God himself.

“Where then will wisdom come from? And, where is the place for the intelligence? For she is hidden from the eyes of all living, and every bird of the air is hidden… God understands her way and knows her place ”(Job 28: 20-21, 23)

In this way the truth found in the Bible will allow man to be free from darkness, because will have a new lifesince with carnal works, they are simply letting themselves be carried away by satan himself, hiding for them the opportunity to believe and be saved.

“But if our gospel is still hidden, among those who are lost it is hidden; in whom the god of this age has blinded the understanding of unbelievers, so that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, may not shine on them” (2 Corinthians 4:3-4).

That is why Jesus said that by knowing the truth they will be able to be free and remove from their lives all beliefs that are wrong to that eternal life that He has promised, and to be led down that narrow path to which Jesus refers, in other of his teachings.

They are free from sin

In the original condition of the human being coming from Adam who comes from sin, he is a representative part of this first man, but through Jesus who is the second man born in the Spirit he comes to bring that freedom from carnal works and to be directed towards those fruits of the spirit.

“They answered him: We are Abraham’s lineage, and we have never been slaves to anyone. How do you say: You will be free? Jesus answered them: Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin…” (John 8::33-34)

Being involved in sin, the human being is dead, since they are far from the promises of God, but thanks to Jesus you can receive that opportunity for redemption that the Lord promises to his children.

“And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, he quickened together with him, forgiving you all trespasses, annulling the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, taking him out of the way and nailing it to the cross” (Colossians 2:13-14)

They are free from Eternal Damnation

Through this phrase Jesus made the differentiation between the slave and sonand it is the last ones who will be able to inherit all things, and be deserving of their eternal salvation.

“But to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the power to become children of God; Which were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:12-13).

Being children of God they will be saved from an eternal punishment of suffering in hell, and thus be able to obtain the true freedom of souls.

“And the slave does not stay in the house forever; the son does remain forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be truly free.”

The Result of Freedom

As children of God you can obtain the greatest freedom that is put aside the sinful lifeand not receive that eternal punishment in hell, and in this sense that freedom is obtained for the soul.

In this sense, being released of sin should not continue in this life that leads to the abyss, as the Bible says:

«Because you, brothers, were called to freedom; only do not use liberty as an occasion for the flesh” (Galatians 5:13).

It is to maintain that freedom full of holiness and obedience to God, achieving a clean fellowship with Himand put aside all the works of the flesh that lead you to remain in slavery to sin, for this reason Jesus came to give that true freedom through his sacrifice on the cross.

«For you have not received the spirit of slavery to fear again, but you have received the spirit of adoption, by which we cry: Abba, Father! The Spirit himself bears witness to our spirit,

that we are children of God. And if children, also heirs; heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ, if we suffer with him, that we may be glorified together with him” (Romans 8:15-17).
