HOW TO FEED MY SPIRITUAL LIFE

The Lord Jesus taught us “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” Our being is tripartite (spirit, soul and body), natural food nourishes our body, and we enjoy good food with pleasure.

However, we must keep in mind that it is vital to feed our spirit, and this is done through the Word of God. When we stop hearing, reading and studying it, our spirit becomes vulnerable to the attacks of the enemy, and weak before temptations. It is essential to fill ourselves with Christ, because in him we are more than conquerors…

HOW CAN I FEED MY SPIRITUAL LIFE?

“Like newborn babies, desire spiritual milk so that by it you may grow to salvation” 1 Peter 2:1-2…
When we all go to the temple, or to a religious event, or attend a group meeting where a Christian message is going to be shared, we go with an expectation of what we will hear. Whoever is going to share the reflection or sermon also wants to do it in the best possible way so that everyone is blessed and God is glorified.

The text quoted today reminds us of the importance of maintaining the longing for the word of God, it feeds and strengthens our spirit. The apostle Peter advises us: “Desire (the word of God) as newborn children (as a baby desires food)”, this tells us of the deep desire that we must maintain for the Word of God, read it with the direction of the Holy Spirit , and its revelation will feed and strengthen us much more than natural food does in our body.

In several passages of the Bible, God himself teaches us that we must take care of sound doctrine. The Berean believers are mentioned in the Bible, among other things because after hearing the message they studied the Holy Scriptures to see if these things were so (Acts 17:10-11).

The Jew as a child was taught in the Torah or Law (we can say that he learned to read with it), and had to memorize complete parts of it for the celebration of the Barmitzvah (celebration at the age of thirteen where he became a child of the pact).

The Lord Jesus himself was a Master recognized by all. The teaching ministry was conspicuous and prominent in his earthly ministry. The apostle Paul himself was a learned man and trained at the feet of Gamaliel, his knowledge of various languages and other cultures favored his apostolic or missionary ministry.

The Master taught that man lives by every word that comes out of the mouth of God, then our spirit is nourished by the Word of the Lord, and it is prayer that nourishes and strengthens spiritual life.

Communion with God in itself implies the reading and study of the Bible, since it is the Holy Spirit who inspired it and who reveals it. God requires that his children love him, because he has promised that: “things that eye has not seen nor ear heard, are what God has prepared for those who love him” and are revealed by the Spirit.

When we are given the opportunity to share the Word of God we must ensure that Christ is glorified, to speak of him we must definitely speak with him first in our place of prayer. It is very difficult to speak well of someone if we do not know them, that is why behind every Christian message there must be an encounter with Christ first.

We should not seek God because we have to teach or preach, but because we know that apart from him we can do nothing. Christ, the Verb, the Living Word, is the source of life for every believer, that is why we need his revelation to live.

Final reflection: It is necessary to seek the presence of God, in his goodness he will give us his word, which feeds us, helps us grow, and strengthens us to do his will.
