LEADERSHIP AND TEAMWORK

Bible study: Christian leadership and teamwork

This is a seminar that exposes the fundamentals, principles and requirements to lead work teams and Christian ministries.

The Bible tells us in Ecclesiastes 10:10 “If the iron is dull, and its edge is not sharpened, then more force must be added; but wisdom is profitable to direct.”

Main objective of this study “Christian leadership and teamwork”: Establish the foundations and biblical designs of correct leadership, and the advantages and attitudes necessary for good teamwork. Let’s see this interesting study

Lesson 1 of “Leadership and teamwork”

IMPORTANCE AND BENEFITS OF
A. In the leadership of every great victory there is a great team.
Note: Exodus 17:8-13, Amalek is defeated, and looking at verse thirteen Joshua appears as the victor, however verses nine and ten teach us that victory was achieved through teamwork: Moses, Joshua, Aaron and Hur and an army of Hebrew men. The truth is that you alone cannot accomplish much.

A humble heart recognizes that it needs a team to achieve significant things, Josué was able to win but he did not do it alone, it was teamwork:

“Then Amalek came and fought against Israel at Rephidim… Joshua went out with other men to fight against Amalek, while Moses, Aaron and Hur went up to the hill… And it happened that when Moses raised his hand, Israel prevailed; more when he lowered his hand, Amalek prevailed… Then Aaron and Hur held their hands and so there was firmness in their hands until the sun went down… And Joshua defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.”

b. Teams make it easier for more people to participate.
Note: This way there will be more resources, ideas, energy and strength. The body will always have more strength than a separate organ.
c. Teams provide multiple methods to reach a goal in every situation (Proverbs 11:14).

“Where there is no wise direction, the people will fall; more in the multitude of advisers there is security”.
Note: We can remember the case of Rehoboam, son of King Solomon, when he did not listen to the advice of the elders and was carried away by the advice of the young people, increasing taxes, this caused the separation of Israel.

d Teams share wins and losses.
Note: All members have identity with the vision, therefore success or failure does not fall on one person, but on everyone. They are a team in all circumstances.
AND. Teams can simply do more than one person alone.
Note: For example: the Lord Jesus and the twelve, Mark 6:7, 12-13. Jesus could not go everywhere, many cities and villages of Israel would remain without being visited by the Lord, but he made the ministry more extensive and effective through his disciples (many repented, many were healed and many were released…).

Mark 6:7, 12-13 “Then he called the twelve, and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over unclean spirits… And they went out and preached that men should repent. And they cast out many demons , and anointed many sick with oil, and healed them.”

F. Benefits of a work team (according to Exodus 18:13-23 we can identify several benefits):
1. Avoid fainting (verse 18).
two. The burden is shared (verse 22).
3. Allows to maintain fellowship with God (verse 19).
Four. Facilitates instruction (verse 20).
5. Encourages the birth of leaders (verse 21).
6. Allows continuity of vision (verse 23a).
Note: The text says: “you will be able to support yourself”, the Hebrew term for “supporting you” used here is “love” and it also translates: stand, stand still, stand upright, stand. In a cultic context, this verb has to do with approaching the altar (in the presence of God) to offer a sacrifice, it refers to everything that is done when ministering before God.
7. Makes people’s attention easier (verse 23b).
Note: The phrase: “all the people will go in peace” tells us about the result. Here the word peace comes from the Hebrew “shalom” which also translates: well-being, health, prosperity, happiness. When there is an appropriate pattern of attention, people experience well-being.

“If you do this, and God commands you, you will be able to stand, and all this people will go to their place in peace” Exodus 18:23

Lesson 2 of “Leadership and I work in equipment

OBSTACLES TO TEAM WORK

Bible study

A. Romans 12:3-5 “I say therefore, by the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, think no more highly of himself than he ought to think, but think soberly of himself, as to the measure of faith that God has dealt to each one… we, being many, are one body in Christ, and all members one of another”.

Shown here are the regulators of the gifts, described in the following verses (vv. 6-8).

Note: This order is very important, first having as foundations: the grace of God, simplicity and humility of heart, and valuing the unity and diversity of the Body of Christ. Secondly, the capacities given by God to develop the ministry are described; first the principles of the Kingdom of God, the principles of life and then the doing (the ministry).

b. Main obstacles:
Note: This term literally translates: I. We talk about the desire to be praised by others, the desire to have the first place. Let’s look at 1 Timothy 3:6 “Not a neophyte, lest being puffed up he fall into the condemnation of the devil”, where “puffing up” from the Greek term “Tufoo” which means: to envelop in smoke (to be infatuated, to be vain, to swell with pride).
“My disposition to lead, must be the same to serve”
Let us remember the example of the Lord Jesus… and of the apostle Paul, 1 Corinthians 4:1 “So then let men regard us as servants of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God”, here two significant terms appear in our study:
EITHER servers: translated from the Greek “Juperetes” (jupo:
bass and eretes: rower) properly a rower who acts under the direction of another; also translates: helper, helper.
EITHER administrators: translated from the Greek “oikonomos” (oikos: house; nomos: law), one who rules a house, denotes a superior servant responsible for the administration of the house, the estate, the direction of the other servants, and the care of small children. It is also translated: butler, treasurer.
Note: Due to self-esteem problems, some feel threatened by others. Insecurity is also generated by fear of leaving tradition, custom, religion, due to ignorance of the divine purpose (Romans 11:29, 2 Timothy 1:7). Spiritual maturity leads us to surrender and multiplication, for example: Moses and Joshua, Elijah and Elisha; The Bible also shows us the example of an insecure leader and his actions: King Saul, 1 Samuel 18:12, 17.

(I invite you to read: Man is administrator, God is the owner.).
Note: We cannot ignore that great goals imply a lot of effort. In fact, the Lord Jesus himself teaches us that we must be aware of the project, the resources, the time, the cost, etc. Please read: Luke 14:28-33.

“Success is not the result of an accident, it is the result of directed and constant work” (clear and programmed goals).
Four. The temperament not submitted to God.
Note: It is essential to keep in mind the concept of body in Scripture, Romans 12:4-5. Although we are many members, we are one body (an organism is composed of many organs, an organ only dies). God’s advice to walk in unity is expressed in Colossians 3:12-15.

There is a natural inclination to undertake things alone, without help from anyone. This is a mistake, it is an attitude that leads to failure or sterility. A natural example of teamwork is the hibernation of bears (winter sleep until the arrival of the favorable season, slowing down heart rate, breathing, and energy consumption).

Leadership and Teamwork Lesson 3:
GOD’S VISION IS THE PRIORITY
A. Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
Note: The phrase “the kingdom of God” makes us think of many things:

3. Why what is essential for man, is added to God?

Four. The kingdom of God is primarily “the government of God,” it is the sphere of God’s authority and government. It is where the will of God is expressed and obeyed.

5. Seeking the kingdom is seeking His will in order to obey the King, and justice is “What is right or just or good, righteousness, integrity, justice, what God demands.”

6. For God the priority is the Kingdom, because it implies: salvation, health, freedom, life, blessing, justice, peace and joy. In short, it is everything that God wants to give to man and exceeds the expectations of man’s need.
b. Each person is essential in the team to move towards the achievement of the vision (the extension and establishment of the Kingdom of God), 1 Corinthians 12:20.

“But now the members are many, but the body is one.”
1. God has planned unity in diversity.
two. The function of each one is very important (1 Corinthians 12:21-22).
3. God sees us as equal (1 Corinthians 12:23-25).
c. The vision of Jesus must be the vision of the church (Matthew 4:23-25 and Acts 8:12-13).
Note: The kingdom of God must be announced, taught, ministered to, and established. Jesus did it in his time, today the church has the privilege and responsibility to do it.

Leadership and Teamwork Lesson 4:

REQUIREMENTS TO MEET THE GOALS
A. The vision, Acts 1:8.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Note:

To achieve the vision, power is necessary (because the vision is supernatural, the assigned power is supernatural). Acts 1:8, tells us about the “dunamis” (Greek word for: “power”) of God, which is the “ability to carry out anything, power to work, inherent power”, we speak of the work of the Holy Spirit , is the testimony of Jesus Christ accompanied by the power of God, the divine vision is growing and global.

The absence of goals generates wear, confusion and frustration. (Jesus imparted to the disciples the vision… Jerusalem Church = stagnation… Antioch Church = Philippi, Ephesus, Corinth, Galatia, Thessalonica, Pergamos, Smyrna, Lystra, Derbe, Rome…).
