God the Father in the Bible – Fatherhood and How to Honor Him

God the Father in the Bible is that being who looks with love at all his creation, whom he sees as his children and whom he blesses in a special waybut in the same way correct as any parent so they can fulfill their divine purpose on earth.

In this sense, the Bible has a variety of verses that present to God as Father to all creationand that is why Jesus, being on earth at all times, addressed God as a father, demonstrating the identity that all believers must have.

God the Father in the Bible

The Bible is the most important book that a believer in God can have, since it contains the teachings that you must execute in your daily life, and in a special way the promise of God is manifested for all his children and not as that distant but as that close who loves us.

“See what love the Father has given us, so that we may be called children of God; For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him” (1 John 3:1).

Through this biblical quote it can be seen how the apostle John begins to describe the love that the father gives to his children, which in the Greek word “which love” is found in 6 opportunities in the New Testamentand it is always implying the amazement and admiration of how great and powerful that father’s love can be.

In this sense, it is important to highlight when the “Father loves us”, since in that He is describing that condition of unconditional loveone that is not measured, nor changing, nor diluted, but remains stable and invariable in the face of any condition or situation and he pours out his love on all his children.

Similarly, it should be noted that John uses the word “Dad” in a premeditated way, with the purpose of establishing that relationship that implies the parent-child filial relationship. Also, it should be made clear that the fatherhood of God is eternalsince he is the Father of Jesus Christ and through him he becomes our father.

All this means that when you receive Jesus as your Savior they could receive the love of the Father, since they will be constituted children of God and they will receive that paternity that comes from heaven, to guide them towards that prophetic destiny that has been established for each one of those who love the Lord.

“But to all who received him, to those who believe in his name, he gave the power to become children of God; which were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:11-12).

And it is for this reason that all those who become children of God are heirs and joint-heirs with Christ Jesusand this is given the right to convert through faith in Jesus Christ, so his love extends to every believer.

«And if children, also heirs; heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ, if we suffer with him, that we may be glorified together with him” (Romans 8:17).

The Fatherhood of God

The plan of salvation created by God through the Lord Jesus is the initiative of a true Father who loves, and who seeks the salvation for all his childrenthat is why his paternity is not ephemeral but is eternal.

“For God so loved the world that he sent his only begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

And in this sense it must be understood that the basis of the life of a believer is to rest in that fatherhood of godand that that truth that demonstrates the love of a Father with his son be revealed through the Holy Spirit as the word says:

  • “You will call me: My Father and you will not turn away from following me” (Jeremiah 3:19)
  • “The son honors the father, and the servant his master. If, then, I am the Father, where is my honor? (Malachi 1:6)
  • “But you are our Father…you, O Jehovah, are our Father; our perpetual Redeemer is your name” (Isaiah 63:16)
  • «He who has seen me has seen the Father; How, then, do you say: Show us the Father? (John 14:9)

And based on these biblical quotes, Jesus himself affirms through the model prayer that God should be addressed as “Our father”speaking in the plural, and that means that each believer becomes a child of God and He becomes the Father of all.

«It happened that Jesus was praying in a place, and when he had finished, one of his disciples said to him: Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. And he said to them: When you pray, say: Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so also on earth” (Luke 11:1-2).

Through this prayer it is possible to break down those characteristics of God who comes to satisfy the needs of their childrenhighlighting love, security, the provision that is needed, protection from fear or adverse situations, the teaching and discipline that every Father brings to his children.

How to Honor God as a Father

To honor God as Father all believers must develop intimacy with Him in your life, seek his presence by understanding his plans, which is not a vain habit, but a lifestyle that is transformed by the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life.

And to honor the Father, the following actions must be fulfilled:

1. Must be Worship god with all his heart doing it as someone who loves his father and wants to have that special encounter with him.

«But the hour comes, and now it is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth; because the Father also seeks such worshipers to worship him. God is Spirit; and those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth” (John 4:23-24).

2. Being obedient to each of his mandates and precepts, fulfilling the orders that as a father he gives to all his children.

«He who has my commandments, and keeps them, that is the one who loves me; and whoever loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him” (John 14:21).

3. It is important that as children seek the knowledge of godthat is, not to see him from afar but to approach Him and know who He is as a Father.

“Thus saith the LORD: Let not the wise boast in his wisdom, nor let the mighty boast in his valor, nor let the rich boast in his riches. But let him who praises himself boast in this: in understanding and knowing me, that I am Jehovah, who do mercy, judgment, and justice on earth; for these things I want, says the Lord” (Jeremiah 9:23-24)

Four. Introduce Heavenly Father and his power before enemies, just as King David did when he faced Goliath, who brought him down with the power of the Spirit of God.

“Then David said to the Philistine: You come to me with sword and spear and javelin; but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have provoked.

The Lord will deliver you into my hand today, and I will defeat you, and I will cut off your head, and I will give the bodies of the Philistines today to the birds of the sky and the beasts of the earth; and all the earth shall know that there is a God in Israel” (1 Samuel 17:45-46)

All this will lead to the demonstration of an undeniable love for the Heavenly Father, who is honored with each of the things that he undertakes on earth, and in this way to be that lineage that He has chosen to bear his name on earth.

  • “In love, having predestined us to be adopted as his children through Jesus Christ, according to the pure affection of his will, to the praise of the glory of his grace, with which he made us accepted in the Beloved” (Ephesians 1:5-6)
  • «But you are a chosen lineage, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people acquired by God, so that you may announce the virtues of him who called you out of darkness into his admirable light; you who in another time were not a people, but who are now the people of God; that in another time you had not obtained mercy, but now you have obtained mercy “ (1st Peter 2:9-10)

Finally, it can be said that through the Holy Scriptures they teach what are the rights and privileges that come with being children of God, therefore we invite you to be able to know that love of the Heavenly Father, and that will be experienced through the knowledge that is acquired every day in his presence.
