What were we created for according to the Bible?

What we were created for is one of the questions we constantly ask ourselves, since we feel the need to know our purpose in life. In this way we can better develop as children of God, understand that without him we cannot achieve anything in life.

In the same way we must know our essence and know that we are body, soul and spirit and we are subject to our Heavenly Father, who must be our guide so as not to lose our way and achieve salvation.

I invite you to read:

What were we created for and what is our origin?

Everything starts from the beginning of the scriptures when the creation of the world and man is explained to us. This can be seen in the following biblical quote:

“Then God said: Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness; and rule over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the heavens, over the beasts, over all the earth, and over every animal that creeps on the earth. And God created man in his image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” (Genesis 1:26-27)

In this quote God says that he created us in his image and likeness, for which the purpose of our life is to become like him, to fulfill his perfect will. Which means that if someone sees us, they would also see God reflected in us, as Jesus expresses it in the following passage: “I’ve been with you for so long, and you still don’t know me, Felipe? He who has seen me has seen the Father; How do you say: “Show us the Father”? “He who has seen me has seen the Father” (John 14:)

In this way, Jesus Christ came to this world to restore everything that had been lost due to the fall. And in his testimony the identity and lost attributes of the first Adam are reflected. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance to understand where we come from, how and why we were created.

How were we created?

Our main nature is spiritual, since before being human beings we were spirits named and distinguished by God, as indicated by his word: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I sanctified you, I gave you as a prophet to the nations” (Jeremiah 1:5)

In this sense, God is the Father of all spirits and this is the true and eternal nature that provides us with the identity and understanding of our origin: “As he chose us before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him” (Ephesians 1:4)

Man was created with authority and dominion, and for this reason Adam could see the trees in the paradise that God gave him so that he could eat their fruit, and the spiritual trees, provided him with the knowledge of good and evil, and the of the life. He could talk to his father and communicated with animals, since he had the ability to decipher sounds and knew what each species said.

This is because God gave him complete dominion and authority over these animals, and because of this, he had the ability to communicate with them. So when the snake spoke to him and Eve, they weren’t surprised because it was normal.

On the other hand, when Adam named the animals, he took into account the attributes of each one of them, and gave them the appropriate name for each species. Even Adam knew his way of thinking, so he knew that the snake was cunning.

This fact was possible because his earthly nature was covered with the glory of his spirit, which was the arsenal of the very life of the Lord. Adam and Eve were clothed in Christ, who represents the first light, who made all things, and through whom all things remain. In Jesus Christ all the treasures of knowledge and wisdom are condensed. As his word expresses it:

“So that their hearts may be comforted, united in love, until they reach all the riches of full understanding, in order to know the mystery of God the Father, and of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. ” (Colossians 2:2-3)

About us?

Being able to understand who we really are opens the doors to discover the treasures that God has for us. Therefore, it constitutes the path to the marvelous knowledge of the power of God, of his perfect will and of his infinite love.

It implies a key that opens possibilities for us to understand God’s purpose in our lives and in future generations, and also shows us the distinction between a blessed life full of victories and another life full of failures that has limited power.

We must understand that we are soul, body and spirit. The soul refers to what we are as a human spirit. It is similar to a mirror that reflects everything that is the spirit to later decode it.

When the soul interprets what comes from the spirit, it transfers it to the body, because the three parts of the being are linked together.

Since the soul has the same elements as the spirit, it can subsist autonomously and be independent of the spirit. After the fall, the soul took over the body and the way in which we were created by God.

In this way, man is a spirit that comes from God and resides in a body that perceives the outside world through his soul. So we can hear and see the material world, but when we are connected with God, we can get closer to the spiritual world more and more.

But we must strengthen our relationship with the Almighty and know his power and majesty reflected in his word, and through his son Jesus Christ.

God is our creator and he determined to form us as a creature that proceeds from his own nature and substance, for which we have the same faculties as wisdom, power, intelligence, creativity, which are innate to his divine genetics. We can visualize it through his word:

“On the other hand, we had our earthly parents who disciplined us, and we revered them. Why will we not obey the Father of spirits much better, and live.” (Hebrews 12:9)

Man: An Incarnated Spirit

Man is an incarnated spirit because he is the only spirit formed to be in two dimensions at the same time, unlike demons and angels. In this way, in order for the spiritual and terrestrial worlds to work together, a third element had to be communicated and thus be compatible with each other. For which God created the soul. As his word says:

“Then Jehovah God formed man from the dust of the ground. And he breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living soul.” (Genesis 2:7)

When God breathed into the body of clay, he accessed within it, not only the spirit of the human being, but also added the soul. For this reason, this third element is made up of the same impalpable substance as the spirit that makes us a tripartite composition: body, soul and spirit.

As his word reveals: “And the same God of peace sanctify you completely. And your whole being, spirit, soul and body, be kept blameless for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Thessalonians 5:23)

our identity

God formed the soul of man so that it would have the ability to interpret the Spirit of God that dwelt in Adam. For this reason the soul is so longed for by satan, and he will look for ways to seize it, he even wanted to tempt Jesus Christ to destroy God’s perfect plan:

Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the desert for forty days, being tempted by the devil. And he did not eat anything during those days, after which he was hungry. Then the devil said to him: If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.

Jesus answered him: It is written: “Man shall not live by bread alone.” Taking him to a height, he showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. And the devil said to him: All this dominion and its glory I will give you; Well, it has been delivered to me, and I give it to whoever I want. Therefore, if you prostrate yourself before me, everything will be yours. Responding Jesus, he said to him: It is written: The Lord your God you will worship and him only you will serve. Then he took him to Jerusalem and placed him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to him: If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here, for it is written: He will entrust his angels to guard you and in their hands they will carry you, not lest your foot stumble against a stone.” Jesus answered and said to him, “It has been said, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’ When the devil had ended all temptation, he withdrew from him, waiting for a while.” (Luke 4:1-13)

In this sense, the soul, in addition to being able to interpret everything related to God and thus be able to communicate with the spiritual, can also do so with the dark world of darkness. In this way we can rule on earth. But Satan, seeing the greatness and perfection of the soul, desires it for himself and intends to seize it in order to rule the earth and eliminate the children of God, who represent his greatest enemy. So he used the serpent in order to deceive his man and his wife.

You can read:

Because the soul possessed within its complex organs, one called free will, which refers to the ability to choose and make decisions. If Satan managed to create doubt in the hearts of Adam and Eve regarding God, he would achieve his goal, so that is what he did according to the Bible:

“But from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat; for in the day that you eat of it, you will surely die.” (Genesis 2:17)

“Then the serpent said to the woman: You will not die. But God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” (Genesis 3:4-5)

In this way, eating from the tree of life was the divine supply so that man could live in paradise for eternity. But the enemy separated man from God.

Finally, for what we were created, to answer this question we must know that our spirit is exposed to the world of darkness, and was separated from the world of God due to the disobedience of Adam and Eve.

But thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ we were freed from sin and through genuine repentance, we can live for God, since the perfect sacrifice of Jesus opened the doors to the spiritual world of our Heavenly Father.

However, to reach him we must be willing and surrender to him, obey his word and move away from sin. The following passage shows us how important it is to get closer to God: “But he who is united to the Lord, a spirit is with him.” (1 Corinthians 6:17)

In this way, when our relationship with God develops each day, our spiritual world becomes more perceptible and our spiritual eyes are opened to understanding and wisdom that comes from above, since sin keeps us blind and distances us from God’s blessings in our life.

Through Our Lord Jesus Christ we can vindicate ourselves and repent from the heart to achieve eternal life, which is an unbreakable promise, since death and resurrection were made with a divine purpose of seeking all that was lost,…
