What does the Bible say about the use of pants and women? | restored

5 The woman shall not wear men’s clothing, nor shall the man wear women’s clothing; for anyone who does this is an abomination to the LORD your God.

In ancient Israel obviously the clothing between man and woman had to make a difference, because otherwise, it would show that one sex could feel inclination towards a different one, and God himself condemns this situation:

“You shall not lie with a man as with a woman, it is an abomination” (Leviticus 18:22).

So, from the beginning God has established a difference between both sexes, but the question is: Is the interpretation of Deuteronomy 22:5 that women should not wear pants? It is to be known that at the time of the old testament there were no pants for either female or male, that is, it would not be Biblical to hold on to this book to say that women should not wear pants.

People will always be looking for verses to support their doctrines, including verses that have nothing to do with the subject, and exactly Deuteronium 22:5 does not speak to us about pants in any way, since at that time women and men only wore tunics according to Jewish customs, then we would discard this verse to support this and we would say that what the verse points out to us is the difference between men and women when it comes to dressing.

Likewise, that women dress themselves in decent clothing, with decency and modesty; not with ostentatious hairstyle, nor gold, nor pearls, nor expensive clothes, but with good works, as befits women who profess godliness.
