Wake up you who sleep. The apostle Paul constantly exhorts the churches to wake up. In the letter to the Romans he writes: “And this, knowing the time, that it is time to get up from sleep; for now our salvation is closer to us than when we believed” (Romans 13:11), wake up you who sleep.
Paul orders the Corinthians to wake up and start living a godly life. Wake up you who sleep. Paul here offers an invitation, wake up you who sleep, a call for those who are not children of light to come to the light and be saved. Therefore, when we are saved, we spiritually awaken to a new life with Christ and Jesus tells us: “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven” ( Matthew 5:16). Wake up you who sleep.
