TRUE WORSHIP

(The true worship of God). Introduction: Our good God is looking for worshipers, but the question arises what true worship really is, what is God looking for? What is God waiting for? What are the virtues of true worship?… Let’s read this important study

The true worship of God:

YO. Definition of “worship”:

A) From the Hebrew term “shajah”, which translates: worship, prostrate, lower, bow.

In the Greek language several words are used, the most frequently translated worship is “proskuneo” (pros: towards; kuneo: kiss), implies: act of homage or reverence, also translates: give obedience to, kneel, prostrate. It is an act that recognizes the greatness, power and authority of the other.

Comment: we can conclude So what is worship? it is the recognition of the nature of God, where the human heart surrenders and submits in love, it is that adoration that pleases God because it first seeks to do the divine will and seeks all those that are pleasing to Him.
b) The word of God tells us in Matthew 4:9-10 “and said to him: All this I will give you, if prostrated you will adore me. Then Jesus said to him: Go away, Satan, because it is written: You will worship the Lord your God, and you will only serve him.” This was Jesus’ response to Satan’s temptation.

Comment: In the Interlinear New Testament it says: “And he said to him: All these things I will give you, if you fall to the ground and prostrate yourself before me. Then Jesus said to him: stand aside, for it is written: the Lord your God you will worship prostrate, and only him you will worship “. There are several important aspects to note here:

1) From the context we can see that the devil does not want you to worship God.
two) The devil presents diverse and many things so that you stop worshiping God.

3) The devil will offer you the easiest way. (Jesus is Lord of all kingdoms, but was needed first by the cross).

4) We conclude then that the best worship is to do the will of God in His time and wait in His sovereignty and goodness.

II. True worship of God is done in spirit and in truth. John 4:19-24.

“The woman said to him: Lord, it seems to me that you are a prophet. Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you say that in Jerusalem is the place where one should worship. Jesus said to her: Woman, believe me, that the hour is coming when neither neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem shall you worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know; for salvation comes from the Jews.

But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth; because the Father also seeks such adorers that they adore him. God is Spirit; and those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.” That is why the Lord Jesus brings freedom into our lives so that we may worship and serve him in the right way.

A) We can see here an evangelizing action on the part of the Lord Jesus.

Comment: It is very interesting that the Lord Jesus speaks to a Samaritan woman, since it was not well seen (by tradition and religious) that a Master of the word spoke to a woman of dubious reputation).

The Lord uses this to teach about true worship:

1) Emphasizes the father-son relationship.

two) In these five verses, the word worship or its derivatives are used ten times (this makes it important). In the spiritual life, adoration is fundamental.

3) The Father is looking for this kind of worshipers
b) Verses 23 and 24 of John 4 teach us some characteristics of true worshipers: “worship the Father”, “in spirit”, “and truth”.
Comment: Here we are told that worshipers are people who they have experienced the new birth, just as the presence of God was manifested in the most holy place, now the son of God meets him in the spirit… because God is Spirit and communication is therefore spirit al, verse 24

“God is spirit, and those who worship him are spirit, and it is truly necessary that they worship.”
We must highlight the word truth that speaks to us of honesty and obedience to God; The Samaritan woman needed to know that she had to be born again and that adoration was more than the religious life that she lived because she adored God, since she had had five husbands and her sixth was not her husband either. The woman that I love Jesus in the home of Simon the Phariseehad humility and sincerity of heart as its main virtue.

III. Genuine worship goes far beyond words:

A) We speak of a full and transcendent security in the Lord.

Comment: As we can read in Daniel 3:14-18these young people trusted in God beyond their lives on this earth, their fidelity to the Lord was an act of true worship.

True worship of God is centered not only on the power of the One we worship, but on his faithfulness and goodness, for no matter what happens, these truths make us trust him completely, without reservation and without fear.

B) True worship is a firm attitude before the enemy and his evil plans.

Comment: The book of Daniel, the prophet, teaches us according to Daniel 3:19-20, 23… that the young people had to face threats, angry faces, complications, helplessness, but their faith in God remained firm.

C) True worship is founded on complete trust in the Lord.

Comment: God supports and protects persevering worship; Daniel 3:24-25, 28

“Then King Nebuchadnezzar was terrified, and he rose hastily and said to his council, Have you not thrown three bound men into the fire? They answered the king, It is true, O king. And he said, Behold, I see four loose men, who walk in the middle of the fire without suffering damage, and the aspect of the fourth is similar to a son of the gods… Then Nebuchadnezzar blessed the God of the young…”.

D) It is being willing to go with faith and firmness in Jesus until the end.

Comment: We can remember the apostle Peter who in the last part of Jesus’ life, when he was captured by the Roman soldiers, followed Jesus from afar, also denied him three times, and then the risen Lord Jesus restored him. In contrast, these three young men did not back down even though the fire was intense, even though their lives were at risk, they were firm until the end.

Reflection end: Genuine worship is more than a physical position, it is more than words, it is more than tears, worship is more than singing or playing an instrument, it is giving everything for God. It is to refuse the offers of the enemy of our souls, it is to recognize that he is the Lord, owner of everything and to whom we owe our lives.

When you worship in spirit and truth, and enter his presence, he cannot resist that and glorifies himself in your life, you see the greatness of God through you. That is why Daniel 3 verses 29 and 30 tells us that God through King Nebuchadnezzar “great”, “prospered them”, “promoted them to much more important positions”. That is why he adores and watches the supernatural action of God in favor of you and yours.

True worship.
