THE SEVEN SEALS OF THE APOCALYPSE (1 Part)

Introduction: (The seven seals) We are in the last times and many things are happening in the world, and as a Church we must look at world events with spiritual eyes.

God uses various ways and elements to speak to his children. The Bible also contains symbolic language, which must be correctly interpreted, since God has great revelations and teachings there for his people. Let’s read this important topic

YO. THE BOOK AND THE SEVEN SEALS: Rev. 5:1-2, 6-9.

And I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a book written inside and out, sealed with seven seals. And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice: Who is worthy to open the book and loose its seals? And I looked, and I saw that in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as if it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits of God sent all over the earth.

And he came, and took the book from the right hand of him who sat on the throne. And when he had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb; they all had harps, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints; and they sang a new song, saying: You are worthy to take the book and to open its seals; because you were slain, and with your blood you have redeemed us for God, from every tribe and language and people and nation.
A. The book contains the entire plan of God.
Note: The books in use at the time Revelation was given were not in the form of our current books. They were made up of strips of parchment or other material that were rolled up. On this point, Wesley says:

“The books common among the ancients were not like ours, but volumes or long pieces of parchment, rolled up on a long stick. Such was the book here represented, sealed with seven seals. It was not as if the apostle saw all the seals at hand. at the same time; because there were seven volumes rolled up one inside the other, each of them sealed; so that when the first was opened and unrolled, the second appeared sealed until it was opened, and so on until the seventh”. (It can be a roll and on the edge the 7 stamps).

b. The seal means several things:
1.
Confidentiality guarantee.
two.
Guarantee of authenticity.
3.
Represents the author.
Four.
Sign of authority that supports the writing.

Note: the seventh seal opens the seven trumpets, the first four seals belong to a single group (it is presented by each of the four living creatures) and the other two seals are independent.
II.
THE FIRST SEAL, REV. 6:1-2.
I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard one of the four living creatures say as with a voice of thunder: Come and see. And I looked, and behold a white horse; and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given to him, and he went out conquering, and to conquer”.
A. The white horse indicates victory and peace.
b. The rider is the antichrist.
c. The bow signifies control over weapons.
d The absence of arrows may indicate that he will use diplomacy more than war (initially).
AND. The crown indicates his dominion over the nations.
Note: Not to be confused with Apoc’s horse and rider. 19:11-16, because when studying the context we see that in this case it is Jesus Christ the Lord.

III.
THE SECOND SEAL, REV. 6:3-4.
“When he opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say: Come and see. And another horse came out, red; And power was given to him who sat on it to take peace from the earth, and to kill one another; and he was given a great sword.”
A. The red horse indicates violence and war.
b. The horseman takes away the temporary peace of the antichrist, and generates death on earth (conflicts between nations, internal revolutions, etc).
c. The great sword indicates a great war (beginning of Armageddon probably).

IV. THE THIRD SEAL, REV. 6:5-6.
“When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say: Come and see. And I looked, and behold a black horse; and he who sat on it had a scale in his hand. And I heard a voice from among the four living creatures, saying: Two pounds of wheat for a denarius, and six pounds of barley for a denarius; but do not harm the oil or the wine.”
A. The black horse indicates death.
b. The scale in your hand means food shortage.
c. A voice of command comes from the throne of God, vrs. 6.

1. In normal times, one denarius bought six to eight times what is said here (the scarcity will be enormous).
two. Wine and oil refer to the basic elements of Israel’s economy, it seems that in the midst of judgment God will not allow the economy of his people to be totally destroyed.

(“Do not harm oil or wine,” Take care of them; conserve them. We believe that “oil” and “wine” may well represent olive groves and vineyards).
v.
THE FOURTH SEAL, REV. 6:7-8.
“When he opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature, saying: Come and see. I looked, and behold, a yellow horse, and he who sat on it was called Death, and Hades followed him; And authority was given to him over a fourth of the earth, to kill with the sword, with hunger, with slaughter, and with the beasts of the earth.”
A. The color yellow, in the Greek means pale, greenish color, the color of corpses that die of pestilence.
b. Indicates a great epidemic or mass death.

c. The rider is Death (it is a personal name, it is a principality at the service of the satanic kingdom, like Hades that follows it, here they appear as people, but in Rev. 20:13 and 1:18, they appear as places, because they are in charge of taking care of these places that have the same names). The instruments to execute death (25% of men) are: sword, hunger, mortality (plagues) and with the beasts of the earth.
