Christ has given each follower his power and authority to defeat Satan and all evil spirits. He has given us all the tools so that we appropriate them. The christian power it is based on snatching the truth that Jesus conquered to deliver it to us and that together with him we rule over the earth.
In this teaching, we are going to deal with this topic: the power of the Christian, which has been given to us and which we receive through of power and authority of Jesus Christ, the meaning of living in it. Jesus made the promise to give us this power and authority in Matthew 16:18 when he told Peter, “The gates of Hades will not be able to resist or hold back the advancing church.” Jesus was going to build his church. The church was going to advance. The gates of Hades could not resist it.
Jesus was saying that he who is in us is greater than he who is in the world. Their power is greater than the power of the enemy. When there is a frontal conflict between the power of the enemy and the power of God, the power of the enemy will lose every time.
How do we live and walk in this power and authority?
We must understand that the world we live in has two realms: the natural and the spiritual. We need to be able to know how to live in this spiritual realm in a way that affects the natural realm. Instead of the spiritual realm only affecting me, I need to be living in a way that affects the spiritual realm, which in turn affects the natural realm.
In Paul’s statement in 1 Corinthians 4:19-20we can understand the power we have as believers. Paul says in these verses that he comes to Corinth to see the teachers who are there, and he does not come to hear his words, but he comes to see the power in their lives, “for the kingdom of God is not words, but power.”
Our commitment to God’s Word and truths, or to expository instruction in God’s truth, is to live those truths, which lead us to understand the power of god.
In that verse, there is a question from the Lord: You have given yourself to me through my Word. Will you surrender to me through my power? At the moment, we may not understand what it means or perhaps we may not even relate to it. But as we go on this path, we begin to understand the power of God. Specifically, we begin to understand how he wants us to appropriate that power and do his work through it, and that our lives are to be characterized by the power of God. so that the Christian power Be as visible as you are in your word.
The power of the Christian and the authority of Christ
In Ephesians 1:19 Paul says, “And what is the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the operation of the power of his might, which he wrought in Christ, raising him from the dead and seating him at his right hand in heavenly places“.
Just before this Paul said: “I pray that a spirit of wisdom and revelation may be given to you, in the knowledge of him;” and I was praying for this to happen in three areas. One of the areas had to do with the power of god.
I pray that they begin to understand the incredible greatness of his power for us., which we believe. This is the same mighty power that he brought in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenlies.
High above it all dominance, authority, and power; and of every name that is named not only in this age but also in the age to come. And he put all things in subjection under his feet, and gave him head over all things to the church.
Between the resurrection and the ascension of Christ, he repeatedly exhorted his disciples about his commission to pass through Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the ends of the earth. He told them not to attempt to embark on this mission until they first dressed in power from above, of God. So the disciples waited in the upper room, where the Spirit of God was released upon them.
In the Gospels, Jesus models for his church what he wants us to do and be, including living in the power of God.
In the Gospels, there’s like a church director, the head of the church, not just telling us what to do, but modeling for us what he wants us to do. It is a challenge for us as believers in Christianity; look at the life and ministry of Jesus and see how our church is measuring up.
The church of Jesus Christ must continue, the ministry that Jesus began in the Gospels. That’s why he says: “As the Father sent me into the world, now I send you.” That was the last night, the end of his earthly ministry. He says that now I am sending you in the same way that the Father sent me. What we have is to fully appropriate what Christ did so that the christian power glorify Jesus who glorified the Father, and he is the one who sends us to manifest that power.
In Acts, the early church was living the ministry life of Jesus Christ without the incarnate Jesus. From Romans to the end of the New Testament, there are truths that demonstrate why and how we can live like Jesus and the early church in the book of Acts.
When Jesus was living and ministering on earth, he was doing it like a real man. Jesus as true God became a true man. In that unique character, he is both God and man. When he was ministering on earth, however, he did it in the capacity of him as a man without falling back like a safety net on his shoulders. attributes like god. He was showing us how a human being who lives in right relationship with God can and should live.
So that gives us a backdrop as we get into Ephesians 1. How is it that we can live the life that Jesus lived? Paul says in Ephesians 1, “I pray that you will gain insight and understanding. I pray that you will get the revelation of the mighty power of God working in you.”
Later in Ephesians 1, Paul says that the power that works in you is the power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead. How many of us have ever thought that our bodies are vessels that carry the power of God, the very power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead? Let’s say this out loud: “The power that raised Jesus from the dead resides in me.”
How many of us need revelation to understand what it really means?
How many of us ask, “Do I need more power?” What prevents us from a life of God’s power is not the need for more power, but rather that we need a release from the power that has already been given to us in our union with Jesus Christ through salvation.
So what inhibits it from being released in my life? We cannot minister under God’s authority when we are not living under his authority. Jesus Christ, as true God but true man, lived under the authority of the Father. Jesus said that there was nothing he said or did that he had not first heard from the Father. In other words, Jesus lived under the authority of his heavenly Father.
Here are a couple of verses that show that:
John 5:30: “But I do nothing without consulting the Father. I do what he tells me. My judgment is absolutely fair because it is according to the will of God, who sent me. It is not only mine.”
John 8:26,28: “I have much to say about you and much to condemn, but I will not do it, because I only say what I have heard from the one who sent me, and he is true.” Then Jesus said: “When you have lifted up the Son of Man on the cross, then you will realize that I am he and that I do nothing on my own, but I speak what the Father taught me.”
Jesus did only what he saw and heard from the Father.
The reason why the power of Jesus is released and available so much more in the Gospels than it is to us is that Jesus was sensitive to make sure that everything he did and said was right. in obedience to the father. She lived in the will of God. He did not have a spirit of independence, rebellion or insurrection. He had an spirit of submission to the father.
Each of us should ask: Do I have any independence in my life? Am I unable to introduce myself? Do I have any rebellion? Jesus understood how important it is that he did not allow rebellion to be in his life. 1 Samuel 15:23 says that “rebellion is like the sin of witchcraft.” Jesus ministered under the authority of God. We must be sensitive that we are living in a proper relationship and in alignment with God’s authority.
As the Father sent the Son into the world, the Son sends us into the world.
If I am on earth with a mission from the Father to do the works that Jesus did, then I will do it because Jesus made a promise that I will not only do the same works that he did, but that I will do greater works than he did. The church of Jesus Christ in Christianity is not normal. We have to redefine normal.
What is normal for the church of Jesus Christ?
They are the gospels. It’s the Book of Acts and doing what Jesus did and things even greater than him. The church should try to make statements about the kingdom of God. After Jesus sets captives free and heals diseases, and the gospel is clearly presented, Jesus said that the kingdom of God is here.
In order for me to do the ministry of Jesus, I am going to need a power that is greater than what I possess in myself and myself. God knew it, and that’s why God gave it to us. I have the power of him here, right now. It is fixed, sealed, done and complete. I have the same power that raised Jesus Christ from the dead.

There is a difference between authority and power. A distinction between power and authority is shown in Luke 4:36: “All the people were astonished and said to each other, ‘What is this teaching? With authority and power he commands the evil spirits, and they come out.’ Luke 9:1 says: “He called the twelve and gave them power and authority over all demons to heal all diseases.”
Authority is the ability we have because of our position.
I have the authority of God in me because of my union with Jesus Christ. Power is the ability I have due to my life posture. For example, Jesus said at the beginning of Luke 9 that he had given his authority and power to the twelve, and they went out and did signs and wonders, amazing miraculous.
A little later in Luke 9, Jesus is on the Mount of Transfiguration with Peter, James, and John. A man comes down to the other disciples of his and says, “Do you want to heal my son, because he is caught in these convulsions by demonic activity?” They couldn’t cure him. When Jesus comes down from the Mount of Transfiguration, the man approaches him and says: “I asked your disciples if they wanted to heal my son, and they couldn’t”. Will you?” Jesus heals the son.
Was it God’s will that the son be healed? Yes. Had the disciples been given authority to do so? Yes. Why wasn’t the power released to make it happen? Well, that was the question the disciples had. They asked, “Jesus, why couldn’t we heal him?” And Jesus says: “This guy goes out for prayer.”
