Love Can Do All: 1 Corinthians 13 and Other Verses That Prove It

Although the phrase “love can do everything” is not found literally in the Bible, in the Word of God we do find texts that speak about the power of love. One such text is the famous passage in 1 Corinthians 13.

Love is patient, love is kind. Love is not envious or boastful or proud. He doesn’t behave rudely, he isn’t selfish, he doesn’t get angry easily, he doesn’t hold a grudge. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. He excuses everything, believes everything, expects everything, supports everything.
(1 Corinthians 13:4-7)

An interesting phrase from the Bible is the one we find in 1 John 4:8 – “God is love”. This means that the essence of our God is love. God is also almighty (Luke 1:37; Revelation 1:8). That’s why, the love of God is the only one that can do everything. Our love as human beings can fail. But God’s love never fails.

God, in his immense love, even provided us with something that may seem impossible humanly speaking. Through the Son of him Jesus Christ of him we obtain the forgiveness of our sins and eternal life. That’s how great his love is! He wants us to spend eternity with him and has done everything possible to make it so. It is up to us to choose whether we accept his gift of love.

For God loved the world so much that he gave his only begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but have eternal life.
(John 3:16)

In Ephesians 3:18, the apostle Paul prays that the brethren in Ephesus “may understand, together with all the saints, how wide and long, high and deep is the love of Christ.” What does that mean?

It means that many times we fail to understand the way in which God shows us his love. The greatness of his love surpasses our knowledge! (Ephesians 3:19). But we can be sure that God always works in our favor. This does not mean that, out of love, God will let us do as we please. Nope! But out of love, God will always guide us in his will and according to his purpose for our lives.

Let us trust in the only love that can do everything: the love of God.

This is how God manifested his love among us: in that he sent his only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through him. In this is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be offered as a sacrifice for the forgiveness of our sins.
(1 John 4:9-10)

Above all, love one another deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins.
(1 Peter 4:8)

Hate is a reason for dissension, but love covers all faults.
(Proverbs 10:12)
