Therefore, his word teaches the following:

  • “The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry” (Psalms 34:15)
  • “… For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth to show his power in behalf of those whose hearts are perfect toward him…” (2nd Chronicles 16:9)
  • “Behold the eye of the Lord on those who fear him, on those who hope in his mercy, to deliver their souls from death, and to give them life in time of famine” (Psalms 33:18-19)

For He is watching each one of the steps, actions, words and situations who live both those who obey his word, and those who reject him at this time. In this way, nothing manages to go unnoticed from the look of Jehovah.

«land of which the Lord your God cares; The eyes of the LORD your God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year to the end” (Deuteronomy 11:12).

This indicates that every day the Lord is watching all his creation, because no one is except from his eyes. Even if someone wanted to hide from his eyes, they could not, because his word teaches us that no one can avoid being seen by the creator of all things, since He fills all of His creation, and regardless of their life condition, His eyes do not take off each human being.

  • “Am I God from near only, says Jehovah, and not God from far away? Shall any hide, saith the Lord, in secret places that I do not see him? Do I not fill, says the Lord, heaven and earth? (Jeremiah 23:23-24)
  • “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, looking at the bad and the good” (Proverbs 15:3)

In this way, it can be said that Jehovah is aware of all his creation both good as bad, as the word says. But, beyond that, he wants all his creation recognize his presence and his power, understanding that his eyes will not depart from any of those who are on earth, and may give glory and praise to his name.

The Eyes of Jehovah according to Psalm 139

When you read the Bible You can get a variety of verses that refer to how the eyes of Jehovah are on his children. However, the King David in one of his psalms he managed to describe, accurately, the absolute power that the eyes of Jehovah have over all his creation.

In this sense, the psalmist David had a great connection with Jehovah and he wrote this psalm that talks about how God has dominion over all things. For what David describes as his experience is before the eyes of Jehovah, who every day observed him in his daily walk, and not only in his actions, but could intervene in his thoughts, because the Lord knew before reaching his mind.

In the same way, David evidences through this psalm his absolute conviction in the presence of god, that is, an unshakable faith, because he believed that Jehovah accompanied him in all his steps, and that He would be there to help him. In this way, this psalm should be taken by every believer to know that the eyes of the Lord they are upon us all, just as David understood it:

«Lord, you have examined me and you know me; you know when I sit down or get up; From afar you know everything I think! You watch over me when I walk and when I rest; You are aware of everything I do! I still don’t have the words on my tongue, and you, Lord, already know what I’m about to say!

Your presence surrounds me completely; the palm of your hand rests on me. Knowing this is beyond my understanding; It is so sublime that I cannot understand it! Where can I hide from your spirit? How can I flee from your presence? If I ascended to heaven, you are there; if I lay in the grave, you are there too.

If I took flight towards the rising sun, or if I lived in the confines of the sea, even there your hand would hold me; Your right hand would not let me go! If I wanted to hide in the darkness, and let the light that surrounds me become night, not even the darkness would hide me from you, because for you the night is like the day! Darkness and light are the same for you!

You, Lord, shaped my bowels; you formed me in my mother’s womb! I praise you because your works are formidable, because everything you do is wonderful. Of this I am fully convinced! Although in the intimate you gave me form, and in the most secret I was developing, nothing of my body was unknown to you.

With your own eyes you saw my embryo; all the days of my life were already in your book; before you formed me, you wrote them down, and not a single one of them was missing. My God, how precious are your thoughts to me! How vast are they in their entirety! If I counted them, calculate more than sand; If I finished counting them, you would still be there.

My God, take the lives of the wicked! Get away from me violent people, those enemies of yours who blaspheme and mock you! Lord, you know that I hate those who hate you, that my anger burns against your enemies.

They are totally abhorrent to me; I consider them my worst enemies! Lord, examine and recognize my heart: test each of my thoughts. So you will see if I am going astray, and you will guide me in the way everlasting” (Psalms 139:1-24).

You can see that in this psalm David is meditating on who he is god as creatorseeing him as that powerful being who took each of the things in an organized way to create him as his servant, affirming that the eyes of the lord they saw it from their mother’s womb. These words are what all believer in god they must understand, because that determines that the eyes of Jehovah are upon us from before birth.

In the same way, David asserts that his entire life is already written through a book that Jehovah wrote. This refers to the fact that each one of the people already has a destiny marked as the word that “those whom he foreknew, he also predestined” (Romans 8:29) demonstrating the supernatural power that God has, having absolute dominance in all his creation.

Also in a transcendent way, David points out that God is going to put an end to evil because He takes care of all His children. Asserting, in addition, that He hated everything that God forbade, and in that sense he makes it clear that every believer must be opponent of all the evil in the worldcurrently, and be those ambassadors of the kingdom of Heaven on earth.

Therefore, it is imperative to understand that the eyes of Jehovah are on all of us to offer us his help and direction. Showing, furthermore, that he has a special plan in all those who approach his presence, understanding that they will receive from Him all the attention they deserve for being his beloved children.
