Hebrews 12:15 – 5 Steps To Be Free From The Root Of Bitterness.

The verse: Hebrews 12:15 He talks about the consequences of having a root of bitterness in the heart. One of the reasons bitterness arises is from past hurts. It is important that we take into account that the best thing we can do when an offense comes into our lives is to forgive immediately and not allow time to pass by that thorn hurting us over anger. The wounds have to be healed as quickly as possible. I am going to give you a sample of a cycle on emotional wounds:

the offense – The unforgiveness – The resentment – The root of bitterness – The hatred – The cauterization of conscience.

Signs that show the root of bitterness in a person

The constant complaint is an obvious sign, the gossip prolongs the life situation and always against other people, it is a sign of having this root of bitterness that speaks hebrews 12:15. People with this manifestation are angry almost all the time and are constantly cursing.

«And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Take away from you all bitterness, anger, wrath, shouting, and slander, and all malice “. Ephesians 4.30, 31

They always have vivid memories of what caused them damage, details, such as: names, words, things, and situations that were said and done. The root of bitterness is transformed into a detailed record of everything.

People with a root of bitterness isolate themselves from everyone, isolate themselves because they are afraid of being hurt again or much more than they are.

What are the consequences of the root of bitterness according to Hebrews 12:15?

This terrible root can lead us away from Christ. The root of bitterness has the sufficiency of turning us away from the faith, and this is a high risk that we should not take.

the root of bitterness; causing some physical illnesses. Many of these diseases people end up suffering from in their body, and they are not really for physical reasons, rather they originate in the sick soul that is contaminated with bitterness, and manifests itself in a total physical imbalance. I will give you some examples: Cancer, arthritis, migraines, ulcers, back pain, and insomnia. In hebrews 12:15 we see that he points out that bitterness hinders the grace of God, and he who has the grace of God is healthy. Bitterness cloisters us in a terrible prison.

«…because I see that he is in the gall of bitterness and in a prison of wickedness». Acts 8.23

At this time, there are many believers who feel completely locked up in real spiritual prisons. This is because of the bitterness that is in the soul. Bitterness acts like amnesia that causes a forgetfulness of all the good that we have received from God and from other people. It is like a structure that covers us, blinds us and does not allow us to appreciate the good in people. This is because we think that we are right all the time and that other people are wrong.

«Why was my pain perpetual, and my evicted wound did not admit healing? Will you be to me like an illusory thing, like waters that are not stable? Therefore, thus says the Lord: If you return, I will restore you, and you will stand before me; and if you select the precious from the vile, you will be like my mouth, they turn to you, and you do not turn to them “. Jeremiah 15.18,19

1.- We must get something good out of all the bad things we have experienced.

God is saying to Jeremiah: If you could see the precious and the good that I am going to produce from that bad thing, rest assured that you will get out of this pain; and although I have not sent you this problem, I can form something beautiful, precious and valuable from this for your increaseand I can turn all this bad into a great blessing.

He will never be healed from great pain, from a difficult situation, from hopelessness, from what was stripped from him, nor from that wound that they reacted to, if he cannot see that, from that terrible negative problem, God have the power to bring a beautiful blessing. God has all the authority to do so.

You must be willing to forgive and go to God, ask for forgiveness and all those people you remember that you have offended.

3.- You must make a list

You must make a list with the names of the people who have hurt you or have taken something you believe belonged to you.

4.- Express forgiveness

You have to express your forgiveness by acknowledging and confirming it.

You have to be specific with each word and deed with which you were hurt, and add to this if you have been rejected or some situation occurred that may have saddened you.

You must repent for the sin of judgment, of wanting this person to suffer for what you have done to him and repent for having blamed God.

You should know that when there is a lack of forgiveness and the root of bitterness in our life, we begin to judge people and that becomes a terrible sin, thus opening a big door for satan. We must remember that in the verse: Hebrews 12:15, clearly indicates that if we leave this root of bitterness, we cannot achieve God’s grace. The Lord does not like this condition, because we must have mercy, and forgiving is a fundamental principle of his kingdom.
