In the process of waiting on Him, He works in our hearts so that we are ready to receive what He has for us. When they told Jesus that Lazarus was sick and that he had to come and cure him, he took some time before going to see him.

When Jesus arrived at the place where Lazarus was, he found him dead. He then made it clear to those assembled that it was not too late because Lazarus’ death was for them to believe in Him (John 11:42).
