Esther’s bravery | restored

Who was Esther

Every book of the Bible gives us a vital teaching to live a godly life before the Lord, and without a doubt the book of Esther is inspiring, since it is full of courage.

I faithfully believe that a little of its history can serve as motivation for you. First, Esther was an orphaned Jew and adopted by her uncle Mordecai of hers. However, despite the difficult beginnings of her existence, she ended up being the queen of the Persia and Media empire by marrying King Ahasuerus or Xerxes I.

a desperate edict

In the empire of King Ahasuerus there was a group of Jews, and they well had a great enemy named Haman, who according to chapter 3 of the book of Esther was in charge of convincing King Ahasuerus to eliminate all the Jews, since they had beliefs and laws different from those pronounced there.

The edict was as follows:

And letters were sent by courier to all the provinces of the king, with the order to destroy, kill and exterminate all the Jews, young and old, children and women, on the same day, on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month of Adar, and to seize their goods.

Esther 3:13

Without a doubt, this was a situation worthy of all the Jews of that town being trembling and crying out before the Lord. But God always has someone who dares to be brave and who trusts in the Lord no matter what the verdict is, even if it comes from the king himself.

Esther’s bravery should inspire you “today”

There was a law for all people in Persia and Media:

All the king’s servants, and the people of the king’s provinces, know that any man or woman who enters the inner courtyard to see the king, without being called, there is only one law regarding him: he must die; except the one to whom the king extends the golden scepter, which he will live; and I have not been called to see the king these thirty days.

Esther 4:11

Esther was determined to go see the king without being called by him to convince him not to exterminate the Jews, and she knew very well that by doing this she could perish:

and then I will go in to see the king, even if it is not according to the law; and if I perish, may he perish. (V.16 PC)

How much courage, faith, intrigue and bravery in these words of Esther. She didn’t mind facing death as long as she interceded for her people.

Beloved brothers, Esther’s courage should also infect us, because great things are not achieved in our comfort zone, they are achieved by battling, praying, being fervent and believing that God will do great things.

And with this Esther achieved that her people were not exterminated. Glory to God!
