6 Psalms for health

6 Psalms to meditate on and 6 prayers to connect with God in times of illness.

1. Psalm 41:1-4

Blessed is he who thinks of the weak;
the Lord will deliver him in the day of calamity.
The Lord will protect you and keep you alive; he will make you happy on earth
and he will not hand it over to the whim of his adversaries.
The Lord will comfort you when you are sick;
will encourage him in the bed of pain.
I have said: «Lord, have mercy on me;
heal me, for I have sinned against you.”
(Psalm 41:1-4)

Prayer: Lord my God, thank you because you know my heart. You know what I’ve done right and what I haven’t. Thank you that you still love me and listen to me because you are a compassionate God. Forgive my sins, Lord. I ask you to take pity on me at this time and grant me the health I need. Comfort me, my God, and comfort my heart.
Thank you because you always hear my prayers and I know that you will answer me according to your will. In you I trust today and forever, beloved Father. Amen.

2. Psalm 103:1-5

Praise, my soul, the Lord; Let my whole being praise his holy name.
Praise, my soul, the Lord, and do not forget any of his benefits.
He forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases;
he rescues your life from the grave and covers you with love and compassion;
He fills your life with good things and rejuvenates you like the eagles.
(Psalm 103:1-5)

PrayerLord, on this day I praise and glorify you with all my might. Thank you, Father, for all the kindness you have shown throughout my life. You have been very good to me and today I thank you again! I thank you for all the times I have seen your hand of health on my life and on my family. Thank you above all things for the forgiveness you have given me and the salvation I have received through Jesus. I praise you today and receive new strength to continue on the path of life. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

3. Psalm 6:2-4 and 9

Have mercy on me, Lord, because I faint;
heal me, Lord, that a cold of death runs through my bones.
Anguished is my soul; How long, Lord, how long?
Turn around, Lord, and save my life; for your great love, save me!

The Lord has heard my prayers; The Lord has taken into account my prayer.
(Psalm 6:2-4 and 9)

Prayer: My Lord and my God, sometimes circumstances are so oppressive that I feel faint. I need your help and your intervention, Father. Help me! I know that you can give new strength to my body and my spirit. I ask you to renew my health, please. Take away the anguish and anxiety that oppress my heart.
I receive your peace at this time and reject everything that does not come from you. Thank you for your Holy Spirit that works in my being and renews my hope. Keep moving in me, Lord, and thank you that you hear my prayer. Amen.

4. Psalm 28:1-2, 6-8

I cry to you, Lord, my rock; don’t ignore me,
because, if you keep silent, I can already count myself among the dead.
Hear my pleading voice when I come to you for help,
when I stretch out my arms towards your most holy place.

Blessed be the Lord, who has heard my pleading voice.
The Lord is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in him; I get help from him.
My heart leaps for joy, and with songs I will give thanks.
The Lord is the strength of his people,
and a bastion of salvation for his anointed.
(Psalm 28:1-2, 6-8)

Prayer: Beloved Father, just as the psalmist David did, today I ask you to attend to my cry. I raise my arms before you in worship and with the faith that you will work in my favor. I need to hear your voice and see how you work in my life and in my circumstances. I want to reach out to thank you for your miracles of health and restoration. My trust is in you today and always. You’re my strength. In the name of Jesus, amen.

5. Psalm 30:2-5

Lord my God, I asked you for help and you healed me.
You, Lord, brought me out of the grave;
you brought me back from the dead.

Sing to the Lord, you his faithful ones; praise his holy name.
Because his anger lasts only a moment, but his kindness lasts a lifetime.
If at night there is crying, in the morning there will be shouts of joy.
(Psalm 30:2-5)

Prayer: Thank you, Lord, because I know you hear my voice and help me. I praise you because I have seen your power work in my body. Thank you for your healing work on me, because in your name I continue to move forward with life, with strength and testifying of your power. I want to adore you because you have renewed joy and happiness in my life. To you I give all the glory, my Lord and my God. Amen.

6. Psalm 107:19-22

In their distress they cried out to the Lord, and he saved them from their affliction.
He sent his word to heal them, and thus rescued them from the grave.

Let them give thanks to the Lord for his great love, for his wonders in favor of men! Let them offer sacrifices of gratitude, and joyfully proclaim their works!
(Psalm 107:19-22)

Prayer: Thank you because you hear me and save me, Lord! Before you I wait: I long to hear your word of healing on me. I praise you and thank you in advance because my trust is placed in you, Father. Heal me, Lord!
I thank you because you always work. Whatever your will, I know that you are with me and that your plan for my life is the best. I trust you, Lord. Nothing and no one will take away the faith I have in you and in your power. I proclaim your works, the ones you have done and the ones you will do. In the name of Jesus, amen.
