The family is very important to God, in fact, the idea came from him. God could have created us to live in isolation, but he did not. We need each other not only for the continuation of the human race but to support, build and bless the place where God has placed us.
1. The origin of the family
And God created the human being in his image; he created him in the image of God. Male and female he created them, and he blessed them with these words: “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; dominate the fish of the sea and the birds of the sky, and all the creeping things that creep on the ground.”
(Genesis 1:27-28)
God created man and woman and blessed them, giving them a two-part mission. First, multiply, be fruitful, and fill the earth with children. We see that without the sexual unity of man and woman there would be no continuity. The second part of the mission was to subdue the land, take care of it, cultivate it, and dominate the animals.
Human beings were created in the image of God and have a purpose assigned by him. We are called to contribute where we are. Not only that, unlike animals, humans have a body, soul and spirit which gives us the ability to have a relationship of friendship with God, source of love and wisdom.

That is why the man leaves his father and his mother, and joins his wife, and the two merge into one being.

Every new marriage must give priority to their union and live according to the mandates of God. Although we still belong to the family in which we grew up, when we get married we become one with our spouse and form a new family. We will make our decisions together before God and seek his will for our future and common good.

3. The spiritual life of the family
Engrave in your heart these words that I am sending you today. Continually impress them on your children. Talk to them about them when you are at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
(Deuteronomy 6:6-7)
Parents must fill their hearts and minds with the word of God and then teach it to their children. Your loving and consistent example of living according to God’s commands will inspire and bless them. The family that loves God naturally shares what God does in his daily life and how he intervenes in day-to-day problems.
4. Praise God together
Tribute to the Lord, families of the peoples, tribute to the Lord glory and power; ascribe to the Lord the glory that corresponds to his name; come before him with offerings, worship the Lord in his beautiful sanctuary.
(1 Chronicles 16:28-29)
There is a special bond in families that worship God together. It is a great joy to be able to go to the temple together to give glory to God for all the blessings that he grants us daily.
The family that is united not only by blood ties but also in the spiritual area will enjoy a deeper and more real relationship. Its members will be united in spirit receiving the blessing that God grants to all who serve him.

5. The blessing of children
Children are an inheritance from the Lord, the fruits of the womb are a reward.
(Psalm 127:3)
The children that God gives us are part of the blessing that he grants us. We should not see them as an economic burden or pressure on us. Quite the opposite! We have to love and educate them, teach them to be good citizens and make them share in all the good things that God has given us.

6. Instruct children well
Train up a child in the right way, and even in his old age he will not abandon him.
(Proverbs 22:6)
Parents must teach their children values, how to behave in an acceptable and respectful way before everyone. It is also the responsibility of parents to instruct their children in the truth of the gospel, to teach them what it means to love and follow Jesus. A good spiritual foundation will help them face the challenges that life throws at them.
Everything that children learn during their childhood will shape them for the rest of their lives. Let us be responsible parents who love and instruct their children in the way of the Lord.
7. Obedience to parents
My son, obey your father’s commandment and do not abandon your mother’s teaching.
(Proverbs 6:20)
Children must obey their parents. Here it refers to fathers and mothers who teach their children the commandments of God. Parents who love God will not make meaningless demands of their children. As children grow and study God’s Word for themselves, they begin to recognize the wisdom behind their parents’ commands and the blessing that results when we live a life of obedience before God.

8. Bless the other generations
The old man’s crown is his grandchildren; the pride of the children are the parents of him.
(Proverbs 17:6)
The family must value the contribution of all its members. A strong family appreciates everyone who makes it up, be they children, grandchildren, grandparents, cousins or uncles. They celebrate their successes together, take care of each other, encourage each other and help each other in times of illness or need.
Grandparents are happy to see their children raise and educate their grandchildren with the same love and dedication that they did. Children also learn over time to value the effort and sacrifice their parents made to raise them in an environment full of love and stability.
9. Fight for unity
And, if a family is divided against itself, that family cannot stand. (Mark 3:25)
It is very sad to see families that only speak to each other to fight or not even speak to each other. We must actively work in the family unit, spend time together not only at home but also go for walks, play sports or enjoy relaxing times together. The family should have common goals and dreams and celebrate when they are achieved. We glorify God when we strive to maintain peace and harmony in our family.

10. Caring for and providing for our own
He who does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
(1 Timothy 5:8)
Within the family we must care for and provide for our own. We need to be alert to the needs of our relatives and help them to the extent that is within our reach. We must not close our hearts to them and their real needs.
The basis of our faith is unconditional and sacrificial love, that love that God had for us by sending his Son Jesus to die in our place. Our day to day should reflect growth in this area by showing that kind of love to others, especially our family members.
11. Act Wisely
The wise son makes his father happy; the foolish son despises his mother.
(Proverbs 15:20)
A wise son will bring joy to the hearts of his parents. He will not come into unnecessary conflict with them, he will honor and bless them with his words and actions. He will cling to God, the source of wisdom, and make decisions that please him and bless his parents.
The foolish son casts aside the teachings of his parents and causes sadness and pain to them, especially to the mother. A fool is one who rejects the wisdom that comes from God and lives in rebellion against him and against his parents.
12. Convey the right path
Listen, children, the correction of a father; get ready to acquire intelligence. I give you good teachings, so do not abandon my instruction.
(Proverbs 4:1-2)
Parents should take time to talk with their children, teach them to make good decisions and to walk on the right path. Sometimes we expect our children to behave in a certain way, but we don’t sit down and explain to them what we expect of them and why it is in their best interest to obey.
Children, for their part, must listen when their parents correct them and learn to make decisions that help them grow as human beings. Over the years they will remember their parents’ advice and be grateful.

13. Fear of the Lord brings blessings
Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in his ways. What you earn with your hands, that you will eat; You will enjoy happiness and prosperity. Within your home, your wife will be like a vine full of grapes; Around your table, your children will be like olive branches. Such are the blessings of those who fear the Lord.
(Psalm 128:1-4)
To fear the Lord is to give him the reverence and respect that he deserves. God values and rewards that we recognize his lordship over us and that we live within his will.
There are specific blessings for the one who fears God and obeys his commands. For example, the salary for his work will yield him and he will enjoy well-being. There is also promise of offspring, joy and abundance. One of the most precious assets of man is his family, and a family that lives in love and harmony has no comparison.

(Love) excuses everything, believes everything, expects everything, supports everything.
(1 Corinthians 13:7)
A family without love will not be able to overcome the challenges that life will bring. Family members must be willing to apologize and forgive, to believe in the kindness and love of others and to let go of those little quirks or oddities of others that sometimes overwhelm us.
The only perfect love is God’s. Let us fill our lives with him letting his love flow through us and bless the whole family.
And we have come to know and believe that God loves us. God is love. He who remains in love remains in God, and God in him.
