a prayer of gratitude

I just want to thank you for giving it to me and me to him. You knew what you were doing all along. The traits of him that used to drive me crazy are now the strengths that complete where I fight. The traits of him that used to seem like weakness are now the places you’ve allowed me to shine. We complement each other. When I let you be the glue, we are stronger together than we ever were apart. Thank you for putting my husband in my life.

A prayer for your husband’s strength

When my husband is weary and downcast, will you be his strength? Will you renew his spirit with yours? From the time he wakes up until he goes to bed, give him what he needs to be the husband, father, employee, and friend that You want him to be. If he feels like giving up, show him a reason to keep going. Bless him every day and remind him that he is never alone.

keep it safe

Lord I finally love this man you have given me the way I am supposed to, with all my heart and soul. I want to make life with him, grow old with him, rock the grandchildren with him. Take him home every time he leaves. Walk ahead of him. Keep him safe, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Take care of him.

Prayer to love one another like Christ

Father, your greatest commandment was to love you and to love one another (Matthew 22:36-40). You have given marriage as a holy relationship that reflects our relationship with you. Show us how to follow your example and put aside our selfishness and pride and humbly serve one another. Help us to be of one mind and spirit and to value one another above ourselves, looking out for the interests of others (Philippians 2:2-4). In the midst of our busy lives, help us to take time to love one another deeply from our hearts, as you have loved us (Ephesians 5:1-2). May the love we have for each other be an example to the world of how you love them and gave your life for them.

To forgive us soon

Father, enable us to forgive one another as you have forgiven us. Help us not to hold on to bitterness, keep track of mistakes, or allow the enemy to get in the way of our relationship. Keep our hearts sensitive to You and to one another, and move us quickly to the work of reconciliation. When we are hurt, help us to be honest with each other and not fear retaliation. Help us to overcome our differences in a way that honors you and strengthens our relationship. Help us to grow in humility and recognize when we have hurt one another. Give us your strength to ask for and give forgiveness.

A Spiritual Warfare Prayer for Marriage Restoration

Lord God, we can no longer remain stagnant in our marriage. However, we cannot move forward and we refuse to go backwards. Our relationship feels broken like an old-fashioned phonograph needle stuck in the same groove. So we are coming to you. Protect us from becoming another divorce statistic. In the name and through the blood of Jesus Christ, we resist our enemy who wants us to end this marriage. Lord, we ask you to rebuke the devourer who tries to tear apart the beautiful alliance begun in us as a couple. We run to You, our Defender and Protector, our Refuge and Shelter in time of trouble. We declare in the name of Jesus that our enemy, the devil, has no right to interfere in the sacred construction of our relationship because You live in us and are greater than the one who is looking for victims to destroy.

We know that it is Your will to pray and believe for the healing of our marriage, and we are willing to work together on it. We stake our lives on Your promise, Lord, that when we trust in You with all our hearts, You will direct our paths. You have connected our two spirits in unity and cemented them with the bond of Your Holy Spirit. And what God has united, we do not give room for our enemy to bring division. Your Word brings us truth, and wearing the spiritual armor you have given us, we will fight for our marriage with you as our Supreme Warrior and Commander, and the third thread of our relationship together. In the precious and mighty name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen. (excerpt provided from 3 Hopeful Prayers for Marriage Restoration by Rebecca Barlow Jordan)
