The spirit of wisdom and revelation is the spirit that remains in the kingdom of God, and we cannot have access to it except through the spirit of wisdom and revelation. As the word reveals: “I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, so that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him.” (Ephesians 1:16-17)

We as believers must proclaim the revelations of our Father, in such a way that when we speak and act we impart the light of Christ through his word, which edifies and teaches us the way, the truth and the life.
On the other hand, the lack of revelation refers to remaining in darkness and ignorance, when we have no knowledge about the kingdom of God and his justice, and this kingdom is manifested in the revelation of the Lord. As the word expresses it:
“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying: I am the light of the world; Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
In this regard, Paul in the Bible speaks saying that we are children of the day and not of the night, since the sun reveals all things, therefore during the day we do not need to light ourselves with lamps or candles: “For all of you are children of light and children of the day; we are not of the night nor of the darkness”. (1 Thessalonians 5:5)
In the same way, it speaks to us in a broad way that light reveals all things. Which means that there is a clear and manifest certainty of a thing, so no one can deny it, since the light is so powerful that it pierces the darkness and reveals everything:
“But all things, when brought to light by light, are made manifest; because light is what manifests everything” (Ephesians 5:13)
What is the spirit of wisdom and revelation
The spirit of wisdom and revelation is attributed to us through Jesus Christ to have knowledge about him. Therefore, this is the divine way to be able to truly know Christ through the spirit of revelation and wisdom.
Most people know Jesus in his theology, according to his doctrine and informed knowledge. Which is of great importance, but the most significant thing is to accept it and receive the holy spirit from him that gives us wisdom and revelation.
In this sense, the spirit of wisdom and revelation refers to the Holy Spirit when he provides us with light, wisdom, understanding and revelation of things that we were previously unaware of and that makes us truly spiritual people who seek first the kingdom of God and his justice. .
In this way the Holy Spirit gives us the ability to understand the things that are of the spirit. So the spirit of wisdom and revelation refers to the opening of the spiritual eyes to be able to visualize the invisible, believe the invisible and understand it. This breath of wisdom and revelation does not go directly to reason but to the spirit of man.
To understand a little more what it refers to, it is important to know both terms: “Wisdom and revelation”. The word “wisdom” comes from the Greek “sophia” which has to do with the supreme intelligence imparted by God.
On the other hand, the word “revelation” is of Greek origin “apokalypsis” which means the announcement of a truth or instruction. There are other definitions for this term, such as: divulging the truths regarding things we do not know.
The term “spirit” comes from the Greek “pneuma” which means breath, air in motion similar to breathing. So the breath (pneuma) of the spirit refers us to a continuous act just as it happens with breathing.
It includes both the supreme intelligence and that which belongs to men. Doing in this way that all things that are brought to light are discovered and revealed. But in that breath of the spirit there are two aspects that we must know:
- Wisdom: both divine and human.
- The revelation: the declaration of the hidden.
In this way, the revelation will always manifest a knowledge related to God which has the power to transform our lives. That is why without revelation you can never have an intimate knowledge about God.
Another of the terms that we should consider learning is “understanding” which comes from the Greek “dianoia” which means: the mind as the ability to understand, feel and discern. The understanding is what distinguishes, separates and organizes thoughts.
The apostle Paul, in this regard, uses the phrase “eyes of understanding” to refer to the one who can see beyond what he observes. The Lord has already given us hope and the treasures of the glory of his inheritance. So when we get the revelation, our eyes are enlightened and we can discern everything related to God and the spiritual world.
On the other hand, there is something fundamental that we must consider and that is that God is eternal and infinite and is the beginning and the end, so we can never know everything about him in a single day. However, if we can move forward and learn about the revelation and have more knowledge about our Father, because God wants us to know him deeply. As the word indicates:
“May you be fully able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth, length, depth, and height, and to know the love of Christ, which surpasses all knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” (Ephesians 3:18-19)
In this regard, there are different spiritual dimensions in which we need to grow to get closer to its revelation. To know its width, length, depth and height of such dimensions. Although this exceeds our capabilities, we can reach it with the help of the Spirit. Within these spiritual dimensions we find:
- the word of god
- the holy spirit
- The glory of God
- God’s purpose
- God’s kingdom
When you have this truth, that is, this revelation, it is a deadly weapon for our enemy and we can overcome the darkness that tries to separate us from God. This can be seen in his words:
“And we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit that comes from God, so that we may know what God has given us.” (1 Corinthians 2:12)
God’s revelation gives you the gift of “seeing”
The apostle Paul makes a very relevant mention to us, where he tells us that we have not received the spirit of the world, but the one that comes from our Lord. In addition, he points out various aspects that must be considered if we want to have the spirit of wisdom and revelation that allows us to go beyond what our eyes see and brings us closer to the light that is Christ, such as:
- The demonstration of Spirit and power.
- The wisdom of men.
- hidden wisdom
- things unknown to man
- The depth of God.
- The Origin of the Spirit
- Of the natural man and the spiritual man.
- The mind of Christ.
This apostle reveals to us the spiritual dimension and shows us the power of the Spirit and ends with the spiritual man when he possesses the mind of Christ. In this way, the spiritual mind is activated so that our eyes are opened and we can see what was hidden. As the word reveals:
“Rather, as it is written: Things that eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered the heart of men, are what God has prepared for those who love him. But God revealed them to us by the Spirit; For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.” (2 Corinthians 9-10)

Revelation enlightens the eyes of understanding
The apostle Paul highlights the importance of the spirit of wisdom and revelation, where he says that these come to enlighten the eyes of understanding. He likewise adds the word know to refer to the knowledge that we should have about the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the children. As his word reveals:
“Enlightening the eyes of your understanding, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, and what is the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints” (Ephesians 1:18)
In this sense, as children of God and faithful believers, we need to know that we have access to the riches of our Father through the spirit of wisdom and revelation that has been given to us through Christ, who is the light of the world, the way, and the life.
However, in order to have full knowledge of our Father, we must have a heart willing to know what was previously hidden from us, since our spiritual eyes will be opened to the extent that we maintain communion with God.
In this sense we must understand the difference between three important aspects in the life of a believer, such as revelation, faith and knowledge. Although these three terms are related, they are not the same. But one leads to the other.
For its part, the revelation refers to unveiling the hidden, removing the veil and revealing what had not been seen. As the word reveals: “And there is no created thing that is not manifest in his presence; rather all things are naked and open to the eyes of him to whom we have to give account. (Hebrews 4:13)
On the other hand, faith refers to believing with conviction in what we cannot see and that we feel in our hearts. Knowing is when we know the existence of something, whether it is invisible or visible. Have knowledge about something specific.
These three aspects within the kingdom of God work as follows: The Lord knows, he asks us to believe faithfully and with conviction, and he gives us the gift of revelation and wisdom that go hand in hand.
So God does not need to believe something that he already knows, since faith is about expecting something with the conviction that it will happen. The Lord knows everything, he is All-Knowing, and all things are open and naked before his eyes.
For this reason, we are the ones who need to believe in what we do not see, but what God already knows. God commands us to believe what he already knows, but that we often fail to see because of our ignorance and because we do not seek from him. In this regard, his word tells us the following:
“For I know the thoughts that I have toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you the end you hope for. Then you will call on me, and you will come and pray to me, and I will hear you; and you will seek me and find me, because you will seek me with all your heart. And I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring back your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord; and I will bring you back to the place from which I brought you. But you have said, The LORD has raised up prophets for us in Babylon.” (Jeremiah 29:11-15)
In this sense, God gives us the spirit of wisdom and revelation so that we can know the things that he already knows and that he wants us to know in order to grow spiritually and defeat the enemy and proclaim the good news of our Father, which is what asks us to do.
