The story of Zacchaeus is very popular. Many know him as the publican or the tax collector. The passage that tells his story is found in the book of Luke 19: 1-10. A curiosity: the name Zacchaeus means “pure”, “righteous”.
Zacchaeus was a successful and wealthy man. He worked for the Roman Empire, serving as head of publicans in Jericho – collecting taxes from the Jews. Despite his success at work and his good financial condition, he was missing something.
His life changed when he learned that Jesus was passing through the city. This motivated him to meet the Master. There was a crowd, but Zacchaeus didn’t give up – he wanted to see the Savior with his own eyes.
Due to his short stature, he climbed a tree and was seen by Jesus. In this way, he had the honor of opening his home for a visit from the Master. This experience-with Christ-changed his life. Zacchaeus changed his stance and donated part of his goods to the poor. Salvation has arrived at your home.

Zacchaeus in the Bible
There was a rich man there named Zacchaeus, chief tax collector. He wanted to see who Jesus was, but, being small in stature, he couldn’t because of the crowd.
When Jesus arrived at that place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down quickly. I want to stay at your house today.” Then he quickly came down and received him with joy.
All the people saw this and began to complain: “He stayed in the house of a sinner.”
But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! I am giving half of my possessions to the poor; and if I have extorted anything from anyone, I will return four times as much.”
Jesus said to him, “Today there has been salvation in this house! For this man is also a son of Abraham.
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost.”
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things are passed away; behold, new things have appeared!
Repent therefore and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away,
Better is a day in your atriums
than a thousand elsewhere;
I prefer to stay at the door of my God’s house
to dwell in the tents of the wicked.
Jesus answered, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
The wicked borrow and do not repay,
but the righteous give generously;
There are those who give generously,
and sees his riches increase;
others withhold what they should give,
and fall into poverty.
Give each person what is due: if imposed, imposed; if tribute, tribute; if fear, fear; if you honor, honor.
Whoever is generous will be blessed,
for he shares his bread with the poor.
