Verses about tithes and offerings

Giving the tithe is acknowledging that everything we have comes from the Lord. It means giving back to God a small part of everything he pours into our lives. When we have a grateful heart we offer and tithe gladly.

Money is neither good nor bad: it is neutral. That means that with it we can do both good things and bad things. If we love money, the truth is that we do not love God. Matthew 6:24 says, “No one can serve two masters, for he will despise one and love the other, or love one dearly and despise the other. You cannot serve God and riches at the same time.”

When we are able to give God part of our money with absolute peace of mind, we are trusting him and breaking the power of money in our lives.

Tithes and Offerings in the Bible

Bring the full tithe for the temple funds, and then there will be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I do not open the floodgates of heaven and pour out blessing upon you until it overflows.

Some give hand over fist, and receive more than they give; others don’t even pay their debts, and end up in misery.

Jesus sat in front of the place where the offerings were deposited, and he was watching how the people put their coins in the temple’s boxes. Many rich people put in large amounts. But a poor widow came and dropped two small coins of very little value.
Jesus called his disciples and said to them, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They gave out of what was left over; but she, out of her poverty, put in all that she had, all her sustenance ».

On the first day of the week, each of you set aside and put aside some money according to your income…

The tithe of every product of the field, whether grain from the fields or fruit from the trees, belongs to the Lord, since it is consecrated to him.

Give, and it will be given to you: a full measure, pressed down, shaken, and running over, will be poured into your lap. Because with the measure that you measure to others, it will be measured to you”.

You will not be able to eat in your cities the tithe of your wheat, your wine or your oil, nor the firstborn of your cattle and your flocks, nor what you have promised to give, nor your freewill offerings nor your contributions. You will enjoy them in the presence of the Lord your God, in the place he chooses. So also will your son and your daughter, your slave and your slave, and the Levites who live in your cities, and you will rejoice before the Lord your God for the achievements of your work

Every year, without fail, you will set aside a tenth of everything your fields produce. In the presence of the Lord your God you shall eat the tenth part of your wheat, your wine and your oil, and of the firstborn of your herds and flocks; you will do it in the place where he decides to live. Thus you will learn to always fear the Lord your God.
