The peace of the Lord – What meaning does it have in our life

The peace of the Lord is what every believer wishes to have in his life, where despite the storm one can be calm and confident that God is in control of all things and that every conflictive situation that we may go through helps us to our spiritual and personal growth because we are children of God, and he cares for us.

The peace of the Lord – What it means

The peace of the Lord is obtained when we know the power that God has to control adverse situations, because to the extent that we know it, we trust him more.

But how can we know the Lord, we know him to the extent that we scrutinize the scriptures, where the testimony of biblical characters reveal to us the wonders and the power of God to control situations, perform miracles in the lives of his children and fulfill his purpose.

On the other hand, it is important to wish peace to our neighbor, since one of the mandates that Our Lord Jesus Christ left us when he came to this world, was to love our neighbor, and one of the ways to demonstrate that love is to pray for our spiritual brothers and wish them the peace of the Lord, which passes all understanding.

In this way, we will be fulfilling the will of the Lord. Also when you express your love through prayers, that love is repaid in your life. When Jesus Christ came to earth, he gave us an excellent example of love, mercy, and tolerance, since despite the mistreatment, he fulfilled the divine plan and gave himself up for us. He also prayed that God would forgive them for what they had done.

When we desire the peace of the Lord, we are also showing that Christ always gives us the opportunity for forgiveness and to be able to have the serenity of his presence in our lives. In this regard, the word tells us the following:

“Indeed, whoever wants to love life and enjoy happy days, should restrain his tongue from speaking evil and his lips from uttering deceit; that he turn away from evil and do good; may he seek peace and follow it.” (Peter 3:10-11)

When we wish peace to our neighbor, we are doing good, but we must do it from the heart, because that is where we can let out what we feel.

Certainly God knows everything about us and he searches our hearts, he knows the good and the bad of us. So the word invites us to pray as follows:

“The Lord bless you and keep you; may the Lord look at you with pleasure and extend his love to you; The Lord show you his favor and grant you peace.” (Numbers 6:24-26)

When we pray asking for the peace of the Lord, we are revealing that we are true children of God, that we are doing his will.

Where can we find true peace?

The Bible points out that this peace comes only from our creator, and all those who seek it with faith can enjoy that peace that passes all understanding, just as we appreciate it in the word:

“Do not be anxious about anything, but let your requests be known before God in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7)

In this way the Lord is always encouraging us so that we know how wonderful it is to have peace in the storm. It shows us the way in which we can rest in him and fully trust that he will work in his time in our favor.

Without a doubt, the peace of the Lord surpasses all thought and guards our hearts and thoughts through Jesus Christ, who taught us in his gospels that we can have peace in the midst of the storm:

“He said to them: Why are you afraid, you of little faith? Then he, getting up, he rebuked the winds and the sea; and he became a great bonanza. And the men marveled, saying: What man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him? (Matthew 8:26-27)

The peace of the Lord only comes from him and no one can reach it by his own strength. It is also very powerful and overcomes all our bad thoughts, anguish, fears, because deep down we know that the Presence of God will always be present in each of the adversities that come our way.

In this way, that peace is supernatural, which is why very few understand it and in many cases they point out and judge the person who can control their emotions and have peace in the midst of very difficult situations.

This is one of the promises that Jesus Christ made to us when he was in this world, since he taught us to trust him and have the confidence that he cares for his children.

That is why he left us his peace, which only he can give, as the word affirms: “Peace I leave you, my peace I give you; I do not give it to you as the world gives it. Not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27)

In this quote we have this beautiful promise of Christ, who gave us his peace so that we fully trust in the Lord and not allow ourselves to be disturbed by the conflicts that come our way in life. But this peace is not like the one we know, which depends on many factors, the peace of the Lord only depends on him and we must be willing to accept it in our hearts.

Certainly the problems are not going to disappear because they are part of life itself, of this world full of evil and calamity. But when we know who our Heavenly Father is, we can understand that he will care for us as he cares for all of his creation.

We are human and we have emotions, feelings, we make mistakes, but if you let yourself be guided by the Holy Spirit, rivers of living water will flow, cleansing everything and renewing your faith and hope.

This is another of the promises we must cling to: “Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture says, from within him will flow rivers of living water” (John 7:38)

The peace of the Lord protects our minds and hearts

The peace of the Lord, as previously stated, only comes from him. We cannot have peace, far from the Lord because his peace is different from that of the world because it does not depend on external factors.

In this sense, the peace of the Lord is that which comes from God to give us the certainty that he will work in the midst of all our problems, afflictions, needs, desolation. But this peace is supernatural, it cannot be explained, and many times the incredulous man cannot understand.

The peace of the Lord intervenes in our life as our guardian, since it protects us, guides us and gives us security, against all our worries that often come from our desire for material things.

Today, there are many people who place great importance on having money and worry about their finances to the point that they lose their peace, thinking only about it.

God controls our finances and if we understand that, we can have the peace of the Lord even if we do not have material wealth, since the most important thing is to have the spiritual wealth that will ensure us access to the kingdom of heaven. In this regard, the Bible says the following:

“A mere lover of silver will not be satisfied with silver, nor any lover of wealth with income” (Ecclesiastes 5:10-12)

This quote shows us that when a person trusts more in money than in God, he will never be satisfied and pleased with what he has because he will always want to have more and ambition can take over him and his soul.

This generates stress, anxiety and disturbs the minds and hearts of people and shows that in reality faith in God does not exist because trust has not been placed in the Lord. For this reason, God demands that we seek first the kingdom of heaven and he will give us everything we need in addition, as the word reveals:

“But seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33)

This quote reveals to us that to the extent that I am sure that God is going to provide me with everything I need, that I can fully trust him and this wonderful promise, I can have peace of mind and heart.

It’s not about you sitting idly by, waiting for God to solve all your problems. You must be diligent, hardworking and brave. The Lord sees your heart and your good disposition and for that he rewards you, you just have to look for him every day and put everything in his hands.

How can I get the peace of the Lord?

In the book of Philippians 4:4-5 of the Holy Scriptures, he points out to us the way in which we can obtain the peace of the Lord: “Always rejoice in the Lord. Once again I will say: Rejoice! Let it be known to all men how reasonable you are. The Lord is near.”

This word refers to Paul, who wrote this message while he was unjustly imprisoned. But instead of lamenting his situation, he encouraged his fellow Christians to rejoice in the Lord.

With this attitude and disposition of Paul, he is teaching us that happiness does not depend on our circumstances, but on the relationship we have with God. But how can you do that? How is it possible to have disposition in the midst of problems? The answer is in Christ.

First of all, we must seek God with all our hearts, but we must also act and prepare ourselves to serve him with the best attitude, because faith without work is dead.

On the other hand, Paul mentions at the end of the aforementioned passage that “The Lord is near” to remind us of the day when God will come to establish his kingdom.

It also wants to tell us that the Lord is always present in the life of each one of his children and as such we must remember that he is there with us. In this way we will have the peace that we long for and we will rejoice in his presence.

The peace of the Lord is the product of prayer

By analyzing the previous biblical quotes and the teachings that God gives us through Paul, we can affirm that the peace of the Lord is achieved through prayer because in this way we communicate with him.

And this communication is completely real, like the one that a child has with his father, that is, it is a very close relationship, where the person can talk about his sadness and his joys.

In the same way we obtain the peace of the Lord with positive and pleasant thoughts; by instructing us with the word, receiving the good advice of our Lord and his teachings that allow us to know and feel him in our lives.

When a person does what is right in the eyes of the Lord, he has a clear conscience, and that brings peace because fear is gone. Whoever does good, he has nothing to fear and that gives us serenity. However, we must remember that it is not by our own strength that we achieve the peace of the Lord, but rather through his presence in our lives.

In this sense, we can all feel the peace of the Lord in our being, because he gives it to those who seek him and do his will. But first we must really know it, and for this it is necessary that we pray, read the word, fast, adore and praise God.

Although it is not easy to follow the will of the Lord, our effort is seen by God and it will certainly be rewarded and the character of Christ will be manifested in our lives.

In this sense, the Peace of the Lord is within us and in turn produces joy because we know that he is with us fighting the good fight…
