In the Bible, being meek does not mean being weak. The meek has a great inner force that allows you to put your will and your reactions under the control of God with total confidence. Neither does not allow himself to be carried away by his emotions or react uncontrollably to a situation. One of the ways the fruit of the Holy Spirit manifests in us is by giving us a more humble or meek disposition. The person filled with the Holy Spirit seeks Christ to be exalted, he does not seek his own glory. He is teachable and does not go around with demands looking for someone to intimidate.
The meek have left emotional outbursts behind. The control of his emotions is under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and it is for this reason that all his words and actions bring life, bringing people closer to Jesus.

2. It helps us treat others with respect
… not to speak ill of anyone, but to seek peace and be respectful, showing full humility in their dealings with everyone.

The believer’s conduct should show strength of character and strength to control impulses. Meekness does not lead us to remain silent in the face of what is wrong. Help us speak up for justice, showing respect even when we disagree with the words or actions of others. Meekness is not synonymous with passivity, but instead helps us focus on doing the right thing in a way that honors others.
3. It shows the character of God in us
Therefore, as God’s chosen ones, saints and loved ones, clothe yourselves with tender affection and goodness, humility, kindness and patience, so that you bear with one another and forgive each other if anyone has a complaint against another. Just as the Lord forgave you, forgive you too.

We are chosen of God, he has loved us and sanctified us. That has to be noticed in our character. It is impossible for us to remain the same! We begin to reflect God’s character to others with more humility, kindness, and patience. It is something that we propose to do every day in gratitude for what God has already done for us and also out of love for others.
To the extent that we allow the Holy Spirit of God to cover us with everything that pleases him, we will be able to reflect more and more of him to others. Forgiveness will flow with more ease and grace. And Christ will be glorified in us!
4. The truly wise man is meek
Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him demonstrate it with his good behavior, through works done with the humility that his wisdom gives him.
(James 3:13)
The person full of the wisdom that comes from God does not seek to stand out or be applauded. Do what is right before God in every situation, with humility and meekness. Recognize that No she is wise in her own opinion (Proverbs 3:7) or on her own merits, but because of God’s work in her life. That certainty helps her to behave in a dignified and pleasing way to God in the midst of any circumstance.

5. It helps us stand up to hate and injustice
But to you who listen to me I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. Give to everyone who asks you and, if someone takes what is yours, do not claim it back. Treat others the way you want them to treat you.

Not even the most extreme circumstances manage to drive the meek out of his mind. Just as Jesus did in his most difficult moments, the meek person continues under the dominion of the Spirit of God even if they are insulted or mistreated.
Many spoke ill of Jesus and acted against him. But Jesus continued to focus on his mission. He did not respond with insults. Sometimes he was silent, other times he spoke the truth with firmness and love. And then he continued with the work that he had come to do because he was clear that the Father would take care of doing justice.
Therefore, the meek do not have to let injustices pass without speaking or acting. Yes, he will speak and act when you feel that God moves you to do it, not as an uncontrolled physical or emotional reaction. Meekness leads us to treat others as we wish to be treated: with love, respect and dignity.
6. It is part of our calling
We have been called to bless, and this includes those who insult us. Not easy! But this is a living example of what it is to act guided by the meekness that comes from God. It allows us to bless and react in a pleasing way to God because we have submitted our lives under the Spirit of him that fills us and directs us.
This is something that does not go unnoticed: it shows. Those around us notice it and obviously, our God notices it. This obedience and submission to the Father results in blessing for our lives today and for eternity.
7. Jesus is our best example
We learn to be meek when we study the Word and follow the example of Jesus. He himself encouraged us to learn from him how to be meek and humble from the heart. Her meekness is not something superficial that we imitate. She internalizes herself and changes us from within. It fills our entire being, because it begins with a powerful touch from the hand of God.
Our meek attitude not only benefits others. It also benefits us: it gives rest to our soul. It is so because we know that we are acting in a way that pleases God. When our spirit submits to his Spirit, we know that he will guide our attitudes and that brings us peace.
Jesus knew how to respond emphatically when necessary. He was also silent many times, without responding in a bad way. How did he know when he should speak or act and when he shouldn’t? He kept on constant contact with the Father and always did his will. She rested in the knowledge that she didn’t have to answer everything right away. He waited for direction from the Father.
If Jesus, God incarnate, decided to submit completely to the will of God the Father and live in meekness, shouldn’t we too? This is how we will find the rest that our soul needs.
