Surgery, whether minor or major, can be scary and anxiety-filled. When the pain of the unknown looms before us as we put our lives in the hands of surgeons, prayer brings peace to our physically weary hearts and bodies. Use these prayers for yourself or with friends and family before you go into surgery. Praise God for the ability modern medicine brings and ask for a successful surgery with speedy healing and recovery.
“God will take care of everything you need.” (Philippians 4:19 The Message) How do we trust that God will take care of us like he does with the birds and the trees? Believing in the Word of God will fan the flame of our faith as we live it out in difficult circumstances. May his faith be strengthened as God answers his prayer for a successful surgery.
A prayer for surgery
Father, I praise you for this life. As we prepare for the surgery of the body you have given us, many things flow into our minds and out of our hearts as we lie in wait. However, you assure us in Exodus 15:26: “I am the Lord who heals you.” desperately seek in You the assurance that our lives and our pain will be healed. You are above everything, you see everything, you know everything and you are able to heal everything. When Jesus walked the earth, he was healed by the touch of his hand and the sound of his voice. We pray to feel Your healing hand on us, Lord, and to hear Your voice of peace and tranquility resound over the strong pain that throbs in our minds and bodies.
Thank you for a life that is valuable to us and those around us. We are worth enough to care, and grateful enough for the life we have been blessed with on this earth to covet our return to it and its full restoration. With grateful hearts we come to You in praise for the gift of being able to walk this earth and experience Your love.
Forgive us, Father, for doubting our purpose on earth. We confess how often we run away from what you call us to do because we feel it is too difficult. And now, as we await the outcome of the surgery, we feel compelled to step back and take every opportunity that has come our way to walk behind Your Son in search of Your will for our lives. Please forgive our disobedience and disrespect for Your time and Your plans. Help us to focus our current and future ambitions on bringing you glory and the love of your Son to all who know us.
Father, we trust you with our lives. Because You promise us: “Lord my God, I asked you for help and you healed me”. (Psalm 30:2) Bless the surgeons and medical personnel who will operate on us. Be with them and equip them to be extensions of Your healing hand. Be present with me, Lord, even when I fall asleep from pain medication. Help me to feel your presence and remember that you are always with me. Never go out Always faithful. Loving me more than I am capable of understanding.
And now comes the hardest part: Truly trusting the outcome of my life in Your hands. Because it’s when our healing plans don’t look like yours that we get frustrated and faith threatens to leave our hearts. Doubt can seep through the cracks in unexpected circumstances. In those moments, Lord Jesus, strengthen us to remember you. Your ways are not our ways, because only You can claim true love for us. Only You know what is perfect and just in the daily events of our lives. Our time here is so fleeting, but our belief in you, Jesus, sets us apart and assures us of eternal life. Free of pain and full of peace.
Help us to hold on to that belief. To hold on to you As we travel this path of uncertainty, send Your Holy Spirit to inspire in our hearts the memory of Your sweet words of promise. Help us to remember and repeat the promises you have given us through your Word. Being with our families and friends as they worry and wonder what the outcome will be. Inspire Your love in their hearts and assure them that my life is in Your hands.
Father, may all who know me witness my peace in this process, and know that it is from You. Thank you for life, God. Bless me and heal me today through this surgery. Whether you help me overcome these ailments to restore me on this earth, or lead me to You, I trust in You… today and always. In the name of Jesus, amen.
Prayer for Healing and Restoration
Lord your Word speaks of promises of healing and restoration and I thank you for the miracles you still perform today. Today I claim those promises on my friend. I believe in the healing power of faith and prayer and I ask you to begin your mighty work in the life of my friend. Please bow down and surround my friend with supernatural peace and strength and give her the faith to believe that anything is possible for you. She protects her from Satan’s lies and discouragement and lets his miraculous healing begin. Amen.

Father, I want to thank you for having your operation, and everything went so well. I want to thank you for such a perfect moment that only you could have worked so meticulously. Prayer for my husband’s surgery
Lord, make it your will that my husband’s surgery at this time be successful. Bless and guide the hands of the surgeon. He gives wisdom and understanding to the team that is taking care of him. May they be given supernatural strength and knowledge.
Lord, calm my nerves and help me rest confidently in your peace. May I trust in your plan, a plan that is for a good future! Give me strength and patience in the coming day as I help my husband recover from this surgery. Grow our relationship through this and may we come out of it with stronger faith. Prayer for healing power
Father God, many of us need healing. I need healing for past hurts, random physical pains that I allow to run through my days, and spiritual healing for various reasons. I come to You to receive this healing so that I may be whole and able to minister to others in a way that brings you the fullness of glory. all health and healing are gifts from your hand.

gives your doctors and nurses the wisdom and skill
as they work for your healing.
While he/she waits and faces many unknowns,
calm all doubts and fears with the Word of your promise
that nothing can separate us from your love
which is ours in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:39).

and give him an extra measure of patience
while waiting for you to do all these things for his good (Romans 8:28);
