Who was Saint Onofre
Saint Onofre was the son of an Egyptian or Abyssinian king who lived in the fourth century. His first miracle or miraculous act of his was as a baby. Legend has it that his devil through him, his father gave the child to the flames to prove whether he was the son or not, of an adulterous relationship.
The baby was unharmed in this test and it is from that moment that there is a belief that Onofre had divine gifts.
As a child he entered an Egyptian convent where he preached for several years asceticism in the desert. Later he retires to live as a hermit in the desert.
His story was made known by a disciple of his named Paphnutius who wrote the life and work of Saint Onofre.
His figure is represented as a saint with a long beard and wrapped in his own hair. He usually appears situated in the desert. His party is June 12.
