His daughter represents one of the people who were resurrected by Jesus, which was one of the miracles that Our Lord manifested when he came to this world and that we can appreciate in the following passage:
“And he came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and saw the uproar and those who wept and lamented greatly. And entering, he said to them: Why do you make an uproar and cry? The girl is not dead, but sleeping. And they made fun of him. Jairus the ruler of the synagogue – Important events in his encounter with Jesus and the miracle of his daughter
The synagogue refers to the meeting place, it is the name of the place of Judaism and represents a place of prayer, study and interpretation of the Torah which in Hebrew means “House of Assembly” and which corresponds to the first five books of the Old Testament .
The principal of the synagogue had the right to ask any adult person in the congregation to say the prayer, and the person in charge of praying had to stand in front of the scrolls of the Holy Scriptures.
Jairo, the principal of the synagogue, is a biblical character who appears in the presence of the Lord to ask him for a miracle for his sick daughter:
“And one of the principals of the synagogue came, named Jairus; and as soon as he saw him, he fell at his feet, and begged him much, saying: My daughter is dying; come and lay hands on her so that she will be saved, and she will live. 1.- Jairus, the principal of the synagogue, prostrates himself before the presence of Jesus Christ
Jairo, the principal of the synagogue, was a person with authority, who had a high position, was highly respected and admired within his community.
This man approaches Jesus to humble himself at his feet and ask for a miracle of healing for his daughter because he was desperate at the possibility that his only daughter might die.
This man with a high rank, not only asked for his miracle, but he was stripping himself of his leadership, his authority, his power, to kneel at the feet of Jesus who was a humble carpenter from Galilee.

Faced with this plea, we can see a man who put aside his position, his pride, his power to humble himself before Jesus and divest himself of his own humanity and allow himself to be guided by the Lord, because despite being told that his daughter had died, he believed in Jesus: “But Jesus, after hearing what was being said, said to the ruler of the synagogue: Do not be afraid, only believe.” (Mark 5:36)
In this sense, our faith, our trust in God is what will determine the miracle in our life because without faith it is impossible to please God. That is why we must be certain that God will work in his time in our lives and that, like Jairus, we must put aside our pride and prostrate ourselves before Jesus, crying out with all our hearts because he does not reject any contrite and humiliated heart. .
In this way, Jesus did not reject Jairus and felt compassion for his cry because he knows when our prayer comes from the heart and that is why it is important to let us be guided by the Holy Spirit and trust in his Power to reveal himself with Power and Glory in our lives.
2.- Jesus accompanies Jairus to his house
Jairo, despite having received the news that his daughter had died, he decided to believe Jesus because there was hope in his heart, and while they were going to Jairo’s house another miracle occurs when a woman touches his cloak and is healed of your blood flow:
“Daughter, your faith has saved you; she sees in peace and is healed of your scourge ” (Mark 5:34)
So we can appreciate that Jesus, while heading to Jairus’s house, performs another miracle in which only the woman was healed by touching his cloak. This act of faith is what Jesus wants in us, where only by believing we obtain that miracle that we long for.
3.- Jairo receives the sad news
As mentioned above, despite the fact that Jairus receives the sad news that his daughter had died, he decides to believe Jesus. And this can lead us to reflect because in the face of bad news, we must fully trust God. This fact can be observed in the following passage:
“While he was still speaking, they came from the house of the principal of the synagogue, saying: Your daughter is dead; Why bother the Master anymore? But Jesus, after he heard what was being said, said to the ruler of the synagogue: Do not be afraid, just believe.” (Mark 5: 35-36)
We must highlight the fact that despite the fact that the Pharisees, Herodian Sadducees, priests and all those who made up the religious hierarchy were against Jesus, Jairus believed in Him and obeyed Him in everything, since the Lord did not want them to have people and only allowed entry to three of his disciples: Peter, James and John.

4.- Jesus enters the house of Jairus
To recap, once Jesus enters Jairus’s house, he can observe a total uproar and the sadness of the parents in the midst of the entire crowd. For this reason, Jesus wanted to be prudent and lock himself in the room with the parents and the deceased daughter, because he saw disbelief in others, since they began to mock him due to his ignorance. “And he came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue and saw the uproar and those who wept and lamented greatly. And entering he said to them: Why do you make an uproar and cry? In this passage, we see how the teacher Jesus did not want to resurrect the girl in front of everyone, he wanted to be alone with the parents because he understood their pain. 5.- Jesus resurrects the daughter of Jairus the chief
The moment of resurrection is simply wonderful because speaking in Aramaic, TALITA CUMI says with authority whose meaning is powerful: “Girl, I tell you, get up” and the girl got up.
On a spiritual level, this passage is really encouraging because Jesus has called us to get up, to wake up from our sleep and face the adversities of life. This is a very encouraging miracle because we know that Jesus has the power to resurrect us, to lift us up and restore us.
This can be seen in the following passage: “And taking the girl’s hand, he said: Talita cumi; which translated is: Girl, I tell you, get up. And then the girl got up and walked, for she was twelve years old. And they were greatly frightened. But he commanded them so that no one should know about it, and he said to give him something to eat.” (Mark 5: 41-43)

Only Jesus can fill a troubled heart with peace and joy, only He can heal wounds, only He responds, according to His will. Let us listen to the words of Jesus: “Do not fear, only believe.” Believing in him, in his person and work, in his word, leads us to a relationship with God that will fill our lives with blessings.
Why did Jesus allow Jairus’ daughter to die?
