Analysis of the biblical quote “A true man who will find him” (Prov. 20:6)

The biblical quote “A man of truth, who will find him that is in the book of Proverbs, reveals to us the purpose we have in life, and it is to be in the truth that is Christ and the word of God, since through sacrifice we were called to follow him, to follow his path of light and truth, and bring him into our lives as a witness.

Analysis of the biblical quote “a real man who will find him” (Prov. 20:6)

The phrase “true man” refers to the one who has the truth, and removed all lies from his life. However, we can observe that it seems that man in general seeks to destroy his existence and constantly struggles to reach that truth.

Just as Jacob did when he was in the valley, who actually perceived a hidden misfortune, and the others were unaware that behind his smile, there was a cry. We can witness this in the following biblical quote:

“Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him until daybreak. When she saw that he had not prevailed against Jacob, she touched him in the thigh joint, and Jacob’s thigh joint was dislocated while wrestling with him.

Then the man said: Let me go because the dawn is breaking. But Jacob replied: I will not release you if you do not bless me. And he said to him: What is your name? And he answered: Jacob. And the man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel, because you have struggled with God and with men, and you have prevailed.” (Genesis 32:24-27)

The man who is in the truth is not the one who glorifies himself for his abilities and self-centeredness, but the one who recognizes that the truth is in Christ and in his word. Otherwise, all is vanity. The man who proclaims his goodness, the only thing he really wants is to be exalted by men.

He likes fame and just as the theater actor needs applause as a way to pay homage and recognize his talents, and he could be disappointed and tired of showing how good he is in front of others.

Only in Christ are we freed from appearances and our priority is to walk in truth. On the other hand, the real man, on the contrary, soon manages to recognize his mistakes, and seeks to mend the evil that he has caused. He sincerely humiliates himself despite the fact that it threatens even his reputation, since the truth has made him brave and he cannot suffer falsehood.

I invite you to read:

This is because he has had an encounter with the truth and that is why he knows that God knows our thoughts and searches our hearts. So we can’t hide anything from him, and you need his approval at every moment of his life, at every step, every important decision.

Despite the fact that this attitude is not to everyone’s liking, since many criticisms will surely fall on you, and many will not understand our point of view once we know the paths of truth and justice, reflected in the Holy Scriptures.

This is why the path of believers is solitary and little understood, in addition to being constantly judged for any action we carry out. That is to say that our testimony is the only one that can speak of the truth of Christ, where we manifest with our lives the power of the word of God.

Christ is the Truth

When we talk about the real man, we refer to Christ, since he is the truth, and he came to this world to impart his teachings, heal the sick and forgive sinners. Rescue the helpless from the mud and make known his purpose on earth. Thanks to his sacrifice, we are free from sin, we can aspire to a life in heaven and write our names in the book of life.

The presence of Jesus in this world exposed the false prophets, their deceptions and presumptions. So Christ stripped man of his vanity, bringing light to the hearts of those who only saw the defects of his brother. He taught us to see our own mistakes before judging and pointing fingers at the other, as can be seen in the following quote:

“Or how can you say to your brother: Brother, let me remove the speck that is in your eye, when you yourself do not look at the beam that is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first remove the log from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck that is in your brother’s eye.” (Luke 6:42)

5 Qualities of a real man

Currently, everyone claims to be good and honest, but in many cases, actions say the opposite. It is not easy to gather the qualities to be a real man and in the Bible we see different characters who fought against his temptations, such as David, who despite having a heart faithful to God sinned against him:

“In the letter, David told Joab to put Uriah in front of the fight, where the fight would be hardest, and to leave him alone until they killed him.

Joab looked around the city to see where the strongest Ammonites were, and he sent Uriah there. The men of the city went out to fight against Joab. Among David’s men who had died was Uriah the Hittite. (2 Samuel 11:15-17)

However, we can see at the end of David’s story that he was willing to improve and felt repentance for his actions, although there were consequences due to his sin, he remained faithful to God and never gave up, since in his heart was the truth because he knew the word of the Lord and his divine purpose. Among the qualities of a real man we find:

1.- Integrity

This is one of the main qualities that a real man must possess, since integrity consists of our thoughts being linked to our actions. Which is not easy at all, since as human beings we can err, and in the Bible it can be seen that it was also a challenge for the prophets.

Therefore, in the Holy Scriptures the fact of considering integrity as a quality that must be maintained is highlighted.

In this sense, in the Bible we can find the value of integrity in the personal lives of biblical characters, as can be seen in Psalm 37:37: “Look at the one who is upright, look at the one who is upright; because the man of peace will have offspring”

2.- Humility

Humility is a quality that has to do with morality and is contrary to pride. It is a virtue that man has to recognize his abilities, and use them to do good, without proclaiming it, without boasting. Humility allows a man to be flexible and builds trust in others. He acquires the admiration of many without looking for it, he accepts it as something natural.

You can read:

In this sense, the Bible tells us about the great virtue as something essential to achieve the grace of God: “God attends to the humble but to the haughty look from afar…(Psalm 138:6). In addition, one of the most important passages in the Bible about humility is the following: “The fear of the Lord is the teaching of wisdom; And honor precedes humility.” (Proverbs 15:33)

3.- Diligence

Another of the qualities that a real man should consider is diligence, which is a virtue with which he fights against laziness. Diligence comes from the Latin “Diligere” which denotes Love, and constitutes the virtue of charity, motivated mainly by love.

In this sense, diligence is the care in carrying out something, and doing it with determination and agility and working when it is put into practice. In this regard, the Bible considers that the plans of the diligent focus on abundance and those who make decisions lightly will end up in poverty, as observed in the following quote: “The schemes of the diligent certainly are advantageous, but everyone who hastens certainly comes to poverty” (Proverbs 21:5).

So this quality makes man an effective, successful and reliable being in any purpose that is presented to him in life. Diligence is the putting into practice of what we preach, it is action, perseverance and dedication to achieve the objectives set.

4.- Patience

How difficult it is to be patient in the midst of adversity, but to be a real man, one must be patient and endure all setbacks and difficulties while seeking the resolution of any problem and it is a virtue that is required in life, since that nothing is instantaneous, so you must be patient and work hard on what you want to achieve.

Jesus Christ himself affirms in the Holy Scriptures that being patient will give us the strength to cope with life’s problems; and it is this same virtue that will allow us to remain in faith until we achieve the salvation of our soul, as expressed by the word: “By your perseverance you will win your souls” (Luke 21:19)

5.- Temperance

Temperance is a virtue that alludes to moderation in the taste of pleasures and seeks balance in the things we do in daily life. It has to do with the domain of the will over the instincts, where desires must be kept within the limits of honesty. This virtue is synonymous with sobriety, moderation and continence.

Temperance is mentioned in the Holy Scriptures as one of the manifestations of the fruit of the Holy Spirit in the believer’s life, and this can be seen in the letter to the Galatians: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance; against such things there is no law.” (Galatians 5:22-26)

In this sense, a real man must not only have these qualities, he is also the man whose main objective is to grow from the spirit, soul and heart. He is a balanced person who appreciates what money and material things cannot buy.

The real man has the ability to see beyond his own interests and cares from the heart to know the shortcomings of the people he loves. He uses empathy to help the people he interacts with.

A real man then is that transparent being who opens his heart and does not reject reality. He is the one who does not lie even though he can do it, he is the one who when he falls gets up in the name of Jesus and continues to fight in truth and justice and under the protection of the Almighty.
