Why Jesus Came to Earth

From the moment Jesus was born, he knew that his mission on earth was to redeem mankind from their sins. Throughout his life, Jesus taught people to love one another and to serve God. Finally, he sacrificed his own life so that we could all have eternal life.

What was the purpose of Jesus on earth?

Jesus came to earth with a very specific purpose: to save humanity from sin. In Matthew 1:21, the angel told Joseph, “You shall bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from his sins.”

In John 3:16-17, Jesus himself said, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him.”

Jesus came to earth to give us an example of how we should live. In John 13:34-35, he said, “A new commandment I give you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

In Matthew 5:16, Jesus said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

Jesus came to earth to give us hope for a better life, an eternal life with him. In John 14:6, he himself said: “Jesus said to him: I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, except through me».

Why did God send his son to earth?

God sent his son to earth because he loves human beings and wants everyone to have the opportunity to meet him and have a personal relationship with him. His desire is that we all be saved and can live forever with him. He sent Jesus to show his love in a concrete and tangible way, and to give us the example of a life full of love and service. He also gave us the example of how to face suffering and death. Jesus came to give us the abundant life that God promised from the beginning.

When Christ came to earth

But when the fullness of time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman and born under the law,

to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.

And because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, which cries out: “Abba, Father!”

So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if son, heir of God through Christ.

Galatians 4:4-7

What was God going to send to earth?

So, what will your punishment be? It will surely be what you fear! And what will be his punishment, if not total destruction? Has not the Lord GOD, the King of Israel, destroyed them from the territory that he was willing to give to the children of Israel?”
(2 Kings 17:20)

“But when they came to the place that God had told him about, Abraham raised the knife to kill his son.”
(Genesis 22:10)

God was going to send the earth the punishment of total destruction, as a consequence of sin. Abraham was willing to sacrifice his son Isaac to demonstrate his obedience to God, and this was the punishment that God had decreed for disobedience.

The Bible says that Jesus came to earth to save us from our sins. He is the only one who can do it, and he did it willingly. He loved us so much that he gave us his life.
