Verses about the birth of Jesus

The birth of Jesus brought well-being to all of us, as we read in Galatians 4:4-5:

But when the time was up, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to ransom those under the law, so that we might be adopted as sons.
Galatians 4:4-5

The birth of Jesus in the Bible

1. Matthew 1:18

The birth of Jesus, the Christ, was like this: His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph, but, before joining him, it turned out that she was pregnant by the work of the Holy Spirit.

2. Luke 1:30-33

Do not be afraid, Maria; God has granted you favor from him,” the angel told him. You will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be a great man, and they will call him Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the people of Jacob forever. His reign will have no end.

3. Matthew 1:18-25

The birth of Jesus, the Christ, was like this: His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph, but, before joining him, it turned out that she was pregnant by the work of the Holy Spirit. Since Joseph, her husband, was a just man and did not want to expose her to public shame, he resolved to divorce her in secret.
But when he was considering doing so, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for she has conceived by the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from his sins.”
All this happened to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).
When Joseph woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him and received Mary as his wife. But he did not have conjugal relations with her until he bore her a son, whom he named Jesus.

4. Luke 2:4-7

Joseph, who was a descendant of King David, also went up from Nazareth, a city in Galilee, to Judea. He went to Bethlehem, the City of David, to enroll along with his wife Mary. She was with child and, while they were there, her time was fulfilled. So she gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and put him to bed in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

5. Luke 2:10-12

But the angel told them: “Don’t be afraid. Look, I bring you good news that will be a source of great joy for all the people. Today a Savior has been born to you in the City of David, who is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.”

6. Luke 2:15-18

When the angels went to heaven, the shepherds said to each other: «Let’s go to Bethlehem, to see what has happened and that the Lord has made known to us».
So they went in haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in the manger. When they saw the child, they told what they had been told about him, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said.

7. Matthew 2:9-12

After hearing the king, they went on their way, and it happened that the star that they had seen rising went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. Seeing the star, they were filled with joy. When they arrived at the house, they saw the child with Mary, his mother; and falling down they worshiped him. They opened their chests and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. So, warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they returned to their land by another way.

8. John 18:37

So you are king! Pilate told him.
“It is you who say that I am king.” For this I was born, and for this I came into the world: to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is on the side of the truth listens to my voice.

9. John 3:16

For God loved the world so much that he gave his only begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but have eternal life.

10. Philippians 2:5-8

Your attitude should be like that of Christ Jesus, who, being God by nature, did not consider equality with God something to cling to. On the contrary, he voluntarily lowered himself, taking on the nature of a servant and making himself similar to human beings. And, by manifesting himself as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death, and death on a cross!

11. Hebrews 2:14-15

Therefore, since they are flesh and blood, he also shared that human nature to annul, through death, the one who has the dominion of death —that is, the devil—, and free all those who for fear of death were enslaved throughout life.

12. Hebrews 2:17

That is why it was necessary for him to resemble his brothers in everything, to be a faithful and merciful high priest at the service of God, in order to atone for the sins of the people.

13. Isaiah 9:6-7

Because a child has been born to us, a son has been granted to us; sovereignty will rest on his shoulders, and these names will be given to him: Admirable Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. His sovereignty and his peace will extend, and they will have no end. He will rule over the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish and sustain it with justice and righteousness from now and forever. This will be carried out by the zeal of the Almighty Lord.

14. John 1:14

And the Word became man and dwelt among us. And we have beheld his glory, the glory that belongs to the only begotten Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.
