The Holy Spirit in the women of the Bible

Among the women who have been touched by the Holy Spirit, I am going to name a few, for the honor and glory of God, who has done his will through them.

1. Mary, mother of Jesus

is considered one of the most important women in the bible, since God saw grace in her. She was pure in heart and humble, and he chose her to be the mother of hers her son Jesus of hers. Maria, she was a fearful person of the Lord, for which she always stayed in her way. The holy spirit of her, she takes her as a favored woman (Luke 1:28).

Her humility makes her recognize that she needs a God, as her only savior (Luke 1:47). It is important to note that while Jesus was preaching the word of God, one of the women who was present blessed the womb of the one who gave her life.

However, it is important to clarify that Jesus says “Rather blessed are those who hear the Word of God and keep it” (Luke 11:28). In the following verses, we can see reflected how the holy spirit manifested itself in Mary:

Matthew 1:18-20

The birth of Jesus Christ was like this: When Mary his mother was betrothed to Joseph, before they got together, it was found that she had conceived of the Holy Spirit. José, her husband, as he was just, and did not want to slander her, he wanted to secretly leave her. And thinking about this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said to him: Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to receive Mary as your wife, because what is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.

Luke 1:27-28 27

To a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David; and the name of the virgin was Mary, and the angel entering where she was, she said: Hail, highly favored! The Lord is with you; blessed are you among women.

Luke 1:30.31

Then the angel said to her: Mary, do not be afraid, for you have found grace before God. And now, you will conceive in your womb, and give birth to a son, and you will call his name JESUS. This one will be great, and he will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father.

Luke 1:34-35 34

Then Mary said to the angel: How will this be? Well, I don’t know a man. Responding to the angel, she said to him: The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will cover you with his shadow, for which reason also the Holy Being that will be born will be called the Son of God.

2. Sara or Sarai

If we want to see how the Holy Spirit manifested in the women of the Bible, we can also go to the story of Sara. Sarah was the first Abraham’s wifeHe was the founder of Judaism. Despite the fact that Sara renounced all her comforts, family and culture, she fully trusted the Word of the Lord.

She made the decision to follow her husband wherever God sent Abraham. God had made him a promise to take them to the promised land, where milk and honey abounded (that is, a prosperous land).

Sarah was a blessed woman like other women mentioned in the Word. That she, at her advanced age, was able to give birth to her first child, since in her entire life she had not been able to have one, due to being infertile. So she asked God for a miracle to conceive. In these verses, you can notice how the Holy Spirit manifested in Sarah:

Genesis 11:29 29

And Abraham and Nahor took wives for themselves; Abraham’s wife’s name was Sarai, and Nahor’s wife’s name was Milca, daughter of Haran, father of Milca and Isca.

3. Cardigan

Another example on which we can base ourselves to observe how the Holy Spirit acted in the women of the Bible is the life of Rebecca. In the scriptures, she is described as A pretty woman. She was the wife of Abraham and Sarah’s son Isaac.

Rebeca, mother of two twins; Jacob and Esau. She was a very God fearing woman. The Holy Spirit taught her that her eldest son Esau would serve Jacob. By then Isaac was very old and blind and he couldn’t tell anyone anymore.

For this reason, when she sends for her firstborn to bless him, Rebekah convinces her son Jacob to wear lambskin to look like his brother and receive the blessing for him. And without knowing it Isaac gives the blessing to his youngest son. Let’s see what the Bible says about this woman:

Genesis 24-15

And it came to pass that before he had finished speaking, behold Rebekah, who was born to Betuel, the son of Michal, the wife of Nahor, Abraham’s brother, who came out with her pitcher on her shoulder. Mary, sister of Moses, In the Bible she is the first woman chosen through the Holy Spirit to be a prophet. She is the sister of Moses and Aaron, she accompanied them with songs through the middle of the Red Sea, guiding the Jews to the promised land.

Exodus 15:20-21

And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand, and all the women followed her with tambourines and dancing. And Mary answered them: Sing to the Lord, for he has magnified himself exceedingly; he has thrown the horse and the rider into the sea.

4. Deborah

In the Bible they point to it as a brave and kind woman. Hers She was the wife of Lapidoth, and the Holy Spirit takes her as a prophetess, and through her reveals how he would lead the army of Israel to fight with hers. Débora teaches us that putting faith in God and giving her love, everything is possible. To know the story of Deborah, we can go to the word in the following verses:

Judges 4:4-5

A woman ruled Israel at that time, Deborah, a prophetess, wife of Lapidoth. And he used to sit under the palm tree of Deborah, between Ramah and Bet-el, on the mount of Ephraim, and the children of Israel went up to it to judge.

Judges 4:8-9

Barac replied: If you go with me, I will go, but if you do not go with me, I will not go. 9 She said: I will go with you, but the glory of the journey you undertake will not be yours, because Jehovah will sell Sisara into the hand of a woman. And Deborah got up, she went with Barac to Cedes.

In the Bible, God teaches us through some of these women, that blessings come to us when we follow the ways of the Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, who dwells in us at all times. We still have many examples of women who have marked history, through faith and honors God, so I invite you to take your Bible and read the Word that is food for the soul.

Take a look at:

Let us follow the example and have the fear of our heavenly Father so that he may always bless our ways and give us the promises that he has left us. As Christians, it is important to know each of these stories, which teach us the goodness and mistakes of people, so as not to fail in the same way. God loves us more than we think and just as we are, and that is why we must always live each day according to his Word and please him.
