As we get older, we accept that there are some things we can no longer do, but instead of wasting time mourning those losses, we rejoice in the things we can still do.
Instead of foolishly struggling to regain our youth, we as believers can age gracefully, trusting that God will empower us to accomplish what matters.

Human beings may not be able to reverse the aging process, but God can renew our inner youth when we shed our self-centered nature and make him our priority.

Just as the eagle cannot get its new feathers until it sheds its old feathers, we too must postpone, shed, or put aside the old ones and then put on the new ones.
We make a conscious mental effort to postpone the actions of the old nature. We mentally determine that those old things will no longer be a part of our lives. And then we replace them with what the Bible declares to be our new nature.
For example in ephesians He says that you discard the lie and that each man tell the truth with his neighbor. Lying is part of the old nature. Speaking the truth is a characteristic of the new nature.
Then we can propose to put aside the lie; We can shed those old feathers. And instead make a conscious mental decision to tell the truth. By doing so, we can walk with God.
As we shed the old feathers and put the new ones in their place, we are renewed. We can walk with Him and not faint. We can run with Him and not be tired. We can renew ourselves and ride on eagles’ wings.
God’s promise of renewed strength
As people of faith, we all have great spiritual genes. If you need evidence, just take a look at Abraham. He lived to be 175 years old. According to Romans 4:11, KJV, he is “the father of all who believe.” So longevity runs in our spiritual family.
Abraham, around the age of 100, got a new lease on life. The old body of his that had aged to the point where he was reproductively dead, got a fresh spark. The same thing happened to his wife, Sarah.
At 90, it began to come to life like never before. So, at an age that most people consider ancient, Abraham and Sarah started anew. They entered into the fulfillment of God’s promise and had a baby.
Think about it! Those are the spiritual genes we inherited when we received Jesus as Lord, and God grafted us into the family of faith! We are born again into a lineage of people who were famous for living vibrantly on earth for a long, long time.

Why is a change needed?
Many times, to survive we have to start a process of change. Sometimes we need to get rid of old memories, habits, and other past traditions. Only freed from past burdens, we can take advantage of the present.
