Personal quality that makes the treatment smooth, the ways of speaking and acting humble, the desires moderate, the boasts neutral or null.

It should not be confused with simplicity, understood as a lack of sufficient insight to notice reality, to intuit the intentions of others, to elucidate the appropriateness of action.

Simplicity is a virtue that always ends up pleasing others. Simplicity is a defect that leads to the irony of others and to one’s own dissatisfaction.

aphelotes (ajfelovth”, 858), denotes simplicity (Act 2:46 “simplicity”), a term for which Moulton and Milligan suggest, based on examples from the papyri, the meaning of “unworldly simplicity”; what is denoted by this is an unrepentant benevolence expressed in an active way.¶ Note: For Japlotes, translated “simplicity” in Eph 6:5 (and also in various texts, including TR, in 2Co 1:12), see GENEROSITY, A, No. 1, LIBERALITY.
