Prayer to the Immaculate Conception for the Day of the Virgin

Learn in this article why December 8 is the day of the Immaculate Conception and learn some prayers to dedicate that day to her.

December 8, Immaculate Conception Day

The day of the Immaculate Conception was declared in 1854 when various Catholic universities around the world petitioned the then-serving Pope Pius Nono.

On December 8, in the largest church in the world, Saint Peter’s Basilica in Rome, Italy, Pio Nono made the announcement:

“We declare that the doctrine that says that Mary was conceived without original sin is a doctrine revealed by God and that everyone is obliged to believe it as a dogma of faith,” he said before more than 200 bishops and ambassadors and thousands of faithful present.

After his announcement, the 300 bells of the towers of Rome rang and thousands of homing pigeons took flight. At the same time, in all the Catholic temples of the world, parties were held in honor of the Immaculate Conception.

Images of the Immaculate Conception

The image of the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception is usually represented to Mary, looking up to heaven with surprise, surrounded by angels, receiving the miracle of God in her womb.

Prayer to the Virgin

To thank the miracles of the Virgin Mary and the fact that she has conceived the son of God in her womb, I share this powerful prayer for you to pray every December 8.

O Holy Heavenly Mother!
O Immaculate Conception!
that you opened for the world
the Source of the Healing Water of Life,
that springs from the Blessed Heart of Jesus,
dispel from us all the evils that disturb us,
open our hearts
through the Flame of Your Immaculate Heart,
forgive our mistakes
and deliver us from the deceptions of the enemy.
O Holy Mother of the Universe!
stay with us,
so that under Your Universal Love,
we can live in Christ,
Our Lord, eternally.
Amen

Day 2

O Most Holy Son of Mary Immaculate and most benign our Redeemer: just as you preserved Mary from all mortal sin throughout her life and you give us grace to avoid it and the sacrament of confession to remedy it, so we humbly ask you, through the intercession of your Mother Immaculate, grant us the grace to never commit mortal sin, and if we incur such a terrible misfortune, to get out of it as soon as possible through a good confession.

O Most Holy Son of Mary Immaculate and most benign Redeemer of ours: just as, from the first moment, you fully infused in Mary the supernatural virtues and gifts of the Holy Spirit, so we humbly beseech you, through the intercession of your Immaculate Mother, grant to us the abundance of these same gifts and virtues, so that we may overcome all temptations and perform many acts of virtue worthy of our profession as Christians.
