History of Saint Clare of Assisi
Saint Clare of Assisi was an Italian nun, devoted follower of Saint Francis of Assisi. She founded the second Franciscan order (the Poor Clares).
She grew up in a wealthy family that she decided to leave to become a follower of Christ. She was the first woman to write rules on religious life for women. She had a life completely dedicated to faith in all aspects.

- A legend tells that once, when Pope Innocent III visited San Damian (convent in which she exercised her faith), he himself had the tables prepared and the bread placed on them. Santa Clara opposed but at the insistent request of the Pope she ended up doing it. It is said that after blessing all the loaves, the sign of the cross appeared on each one of them.
- Santa Clara de Asís was also named in 1958 by Pope Pius XII, patron saint of television and telecommunications. According to the story, Santa Clara was very ill and she could not attend church to pray the office with the other nuns on Christmas day. However, when the nuns returned to the convent, she told them that Christ had taken her there to witness the entire mass, that she was able to hear the organ, the choirs and even take communion. Santa Clara’s day is celebrated on August 11.
