Life and miracles of Padre Pio
He was born in Pietrelcina, a town in Italy, in 1887. He belonged to a humble and very Catholic family that educated him under a very religious education. It is known that during his childhood he had many health problems and that he was a child with very fragile health.
At the age of 16 he became a friar and from there he began a long path of religious devotion in convents. Padre Pio’s life was marked by special events such as the phenomena of the stigmata. He suffered injuries to his hands, feet and shoulders between the years 1911 and 1918 that left marks for life.
This news spread and the faithful began to flock to San Giovanni Rotondo to see with their own eyes the wounds and make miraculous requests. The Holy See sent the priest Agostino Gemelli to investigate these supposed stigmata, who declared that he could not verify the supernatural nature of the stigmata.
That is why for several years, the Church issued decrees that prohibited visits to Padre Pïo. It was not until 1969 that the miracle of Pio of Pietrelcina’s stigmata began to be recognized, initiating the cause of beatification. Only in December 1997, Pope John Paul II granted him the title of Venerable. Two years later, John Paul II beatified him and it was only in 2002 that he was canonized with the name Saint Pio of Pietrelcina.

Dear Father Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, you who have carried on your body the stigmata of Our God Jesus Christ. You who have also carried the Cross for all of us, enduring the physical and moral sufferings that continually scourged your soul and body, in a painful martyrdom. We beg you, intercede before Almighty God so that each one of us knows how to accept the small and great Crosses of life, transforming each individual suffering into a sure bond that binds us to Eternal Life.
Second day
Most Holy Father Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, you who are close to our beloved Father God Jesus Christ, and have had holiness and resistance in the temptations of the evil one. You who have been beaten by the demons of hell who wanted to convince you to abandon your path of holiness. Pray to God for us, so that with your help and that of Our Lord, we may find the spiritual strength to renounce sin and to keep faith until the day we die.
Third day
Virtuous Father Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, you who loved Our Lady very much; and that each day he granted you graces and consolations only attainable by HER. To the Holy Virgin, we beg you to pray and place our sins and our cold prayers in her hands, so that as in Cana of Galilee, the Son grants her Mother; and our name will already be written in the Book of Life.
Fourth day
Most Chaste Father Saint Pio of Pietrelcina; that you loved so much and taught us to love the Holy Guardian Angel; the one who served you as a company, as a guide, as a defender and as a messenger. To you the Angelic Figures brought the prayers of your spiritual children. Intercede close to God so that we too learn to talk to our Guardian Angel, so that we know how to obey him at all times, because he is the living light of God that prevents us from falling into sin. Our Angel is always ready to show us the path of good and dissuade us from doing evil.
Fifth day
Prudent Father Saint Pio of Pietrelcina. You who love so much and taught us to love the Souls in Purgatory; for which you have offered yourself as a victim who atoned for his sorrows. Pray to God Our Lord, to put in our hearts feelings of compassion and love for these souls. We will also help the Souls in Purgatory and reduce their times of exile and great affliction. We will win for them, with sacrifices and prayer, the eternal rest of their souls; and the holy Indulgences necessary to remove them from the place of suffering.
Sixth day
Most obedient Father Saint Pio of Pietrelcina. You, who have loved the sick so much; more than yourself because in them you saw Jesus. You, who in the name of God have worked miracles of healing in the body, in the soul, and in the mind, in the present, in the past and in the future of people; restoring hope of life and renewal of the spirit, and in the total integrity of people. Pray to God for all the sick; Through the intercession of Mary Most Holy, may they experience your powerful help and through the healing of their body find spiritual benefits and thank God forever.
Seventh day
Blessed Father Saint Pio of Pietrelcina. You who have carried out God’s project of salvation and have offered your sufferings to untie sinners from the reins of Satan. Pray to God so that men, who do not believe, have a great and true faith and convert; repenting deep in his heart; and that people with little faith improve their Christian life; and that just men continue on the path of salvation.
Eighth day
Most Pure Father Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, You who have loved your spiritual children very much. Many of your children have been bought by you with the price of your blood. You also grant us who have not known you personally, to consider us as your spiritual children.
