As they neared Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples
with this assignment: “Go to the village opposite you, and right there you will find a donkey tied up, and a little donkey with her. Untie them and bring them to me.
If someone says something to you, tell him that the Lord needs you, but that he will return you soon».
This happened so that what was said by the prophet would be fulfilled:
“Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘Look, your king is coming to you, humble and riding on a donkey, on a little donkey, the offspring of a beast of burden.'”
The disciples went and did as Jesus had commanded them.
They brought the donkey and the little donkey, and put their cloaks on top, on which Jesus sat.
There were many people spreading their cloaks on the road; others cut branches from the trees and scattered them on the road.
Both the people in front of him and those behind him shouted: “Hosanna to the Son of David!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” -Hosanna in the high!
When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was moved. -Who is this? they asked.
“This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth in Galilee,” the people answered.
