In the Bible, there are many examples of how love is shown. Jesus himself said that love is the most important commandment. But how is love shown? Through our actions. Jesus gave us the example of serving others, and this is a way of showing love. We can also show love through our words and our attitudes. When we love our neighbor, we are following the commandment of Jesus.
How love is shown with deeds
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
“In this is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins” (1 John 4:10).
«Love is suffered, it is benign; love does not envy, love is not boastful, it is not puffed up; He does not do anything wrong, he does not look for his own, he does not get irritated, he does not hold a grudge; one does not rejoice in injustice, but rejoices in the truth” (1 Corinthians 13:4-6).
“Beloved, if God has loved us like this, we must also love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us, and his love has been perfected in us »(1 John 4: 11-12).
«But now, after you have known God, or rather, after he has been manifested to you, how is it that you return to the weak and miserable rudiments, to which you want to enslave yourselves again? You observe the days, the months, the seasons and the years! I fear for you, that he has labored in you in vain” (Galatians 4: 9-11).
What is proving with facts
Every good profession requires facts and not just words. The facts speak for themselves. The same is true of the Christian life. It is not enough to say that we are Christians; We must demonstrate it with our works. Our faith will be complete when our actions match our words. The lack of harmony between what we say and what we do is hypocrisy.
The life of Jesus is the best example of how to live a life of fidelity to what is preached. He always walked in the path of truth. He himself said: “Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12). Jesus not only preached the Gospel; he lived it to the full. He was faithful to his mission to the end.
So too, if we want to be true followers of Christ, we must not just limit ourselves to saying that we believe in Him. We must demonstrate it with our works and our way of living. The apostle James exhorts us to this, saying: “So also faith, if it does not have works, is dead in itself” (James 2:17).
Faith that is not translated into works is a dead, useless faith. Instead, living faith is one that produces good fruit. The apostle Paul speaks of this in Galatians 5:22-23: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance. Against such things there is no law.”
True faith produces in us the fruit of the Holy Spirit. This fruit is manifested in attitudes and works of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, benignity, goodness, meekness, and temperance. In other words, genuine faith produces in us a change of attitude and life. It transforms us into new beings, into children of God.
The Bible teaches us that faith is more than just intellectual belief. Faith is a personal decision to give our life to Christ and to follow him wholeheartedly. And this does not remain a static decision, but translates into an active and continuous option to live according to the principles of our faith.
Faith is a gift from God, but we must cultivate and care for it. The apostle Paul exhorts us to this in 1 Timothy 4:14-16: “Do not throw away the grace of God, which is given to you to do good works. Meditate on these things and occupy yourself with them, so that your progress is evident to all. Take care of yourself and the doctrine; persevere in them, for by doing this you will save yourself and those who hear you.
The bible says that love is shown with deeds and not just with words. This means that we must show our love to others with our actions, not just with our words. We must be helpful and help others, especially those who are going through difficult times. This is what shows true love.
