(heb. lappı̂ḏôṯ, ‘torches’). Deborah’s husband (Jud. 4.4). Some Jewish commentators, taking the word to describe Deborah, prefer to translate the Heb. as “woman of lightning”, but there are few elements to support this opinion; other Jewish commentators (with the same lack of evidence) identify him with Barak (Judges 4.6), whose name means “lightning”.
