I. EVERYONE CAN OVERCOME DISCOURAGEMENT BY NOT LISTENING TO WHAT OTHERS SAY NEGATIVELY ABOUT US. Jer.20:10.

A. Murmuration”, from the Greek (Gonguzo) to mutter, murmur, growl, say something in a low tone. Speak between the teeth, expressing complaint or disgust for something. Talk to the detriment of an absentee, censoring his actions.

B. Jer 20:10 Because I have heard the murmuring of many”, this expression of Jeremiah reflects the reason, and the motive that led him to a state of deep discouragement.

C. Illustration: the Bible presents examples of people who did not listen to others speak negatively against them (David – Goliath; Bartimaeus the blind, Ana mother of Samuel, etc).

D. Application: You and I should learn from this expression of the prophet, as it helps us not to listen to what others may speak negatively about us.

II. EVERYONE CAN OVERCOME DISCOURAGEMENT, NOT FORGETTING WHO HAS CALLED HIM. Jer.20:9.

A. To call” from the Greek (Epikaleo, Klesis) means, to be called by a person’s name, as dedicated, its use in the NT of that calling whose origin, nature are heavenly.

B. Jer 20:9 And I said, I will remember him no more, neither will I speak any more in his name. This is a magnificent expression of the struggle in which the prophet’s soul was struggling: on the one hand, the desire to abandon a ministry that only caused him suffering; and on the other, the impossibility of resisting an inner compulsion much stronger than him.

C. Illustration: Amos:3:8; 1st Cor.9:16. Well, if I announce the gospel, I have no reason to boast; because need is imposed on me; (Moses, Ministers, families, etc)

D. Application: You and I must never forget the one who called us, the one who had mercy on us when we were nobody.

III. EVERY PERSON CAN OVERCOME DISCOURAGEMENT, RECOGNIZING THAT GOD WILL ALWAYS GIVE HIM VICTORY. Jer.20:11.

A. Victory” from the Greek. (Niké, Nikao) sig, superiority, advantage or victory that is achieved against the opponent in dispute. That you have achieved a victory.

B. Example: Jer 20:11 But the LORD is with me like a mighty giant; therefore those who persecute me will stumble, and will not prevail; they will be greatly ashamed, because they will not prosper; they will have perpetual confusion that will never be forgotten.

C. Illustration: In the Bible there are people who take the victory by putting all their trust in God and Christ Jesus, Moses, David, Samuel, Paul, apostolic church)

D. Application: In the same way, you and I must put all our trust in the mighty work of Christ on the Cross of Calvary since there He obtained a total victory for us.

At the end of this sermon we have realized that everyone can overcome discouragement, not paying attention to what others say negatively about us, not forgetting who has called us and recognizing that the one who has called us will always give us victory over others. any problem.

Therefore, we must overcome discouragement like the great men of God who suffered it, but who, by trusting in God, took new strength and thus continued to serve him.
