that by virtue of your divine promise,
you will welcome and favorably dispatch our plea.
Amen.

Day 1

The first day of the novena is December 16. Then pray all the preparatory prayers, you must pray the Christmas novena prayer on day 1. At the end, pray an Our Father.

In the beginning of time, the Word rested in the bosom of his Father, in the highest heaven.
The life of the Eternal Word in heaven was a marvelous life and yet, a sublime mystery, he seeks another abode, a created mansion. Not because his infinite happiness lacked anything in his eternal mansion,
but because his infinite mercy yearned for the redemption and salvation of the human race,
that without Him it could not be verified.
Adam’s sin had offended the Divine Majesty
and that infinite offense could not be forgiven except by the merits of God himself.
It was therefore necessary for God to take the form of man on earth,
and by obeying the designs of his Father he atoned for that disobedience.
It was necessary that it take the form, the unconscious weaknesses and ignorances of childhood,
to expiate the weaknesses and ignorance of man; let him grow up
to give you spiritual growth; Let him suffer, to die to his passions and his pride
and for this reason the Eternal Word, who burned with the desire to save man, resolved to become a man as well.
and thus redeem the guilty.

Day 2

The second day of the novena corresponds to December 17. At the end you must pray an Our Father.

The Eternal Word is about to take on its created nature in the holy house of Nazareth, where Mary and Joseph lived. Mary spent the silent hours of the night in the closest union with God and while she was praying, the Archangel Saint Gabriel appeared to her, sent from God, in order to ask her consent for the Incarnation.

That moment was very solemn; it was optional for Mary to refuse. With what adorable delights, with what ineffable complacency would the Holy Trinity wait for Mary to open her lips and pronounce the “fiat” that must have been a melody to her ears and with which her profound humility conformed to the omnipotent divine will. . The Immaculate Virgin has given her consent The Archangel has disappeared. God has clothed himself with a created nature and the eternal will is already fulfilled.

In the regions of the angelic world an immense jubilation exploded. The Word had become flesh and although still invisible to the world, he already lived among the men whom his immense love had come to rescue. He was no longer just the Eternal Word, he was the Child Jesus clothed in human appearance, which already justified the praise that all generations had given him by calling him the most beautiful of the sons of men.

Day 3

The Christmas novena day 3, corresponds to December 17. Pray an Our Father at the end of the prayer.

Thus the Child Jesus had begun his life on earth. Let us consider the glorious soul and the holy body that he had taken, adoring them deeply.

Admiring in the first place the soul of that Divine Child, let us consider in it the fullness of his sanctifying grace, that of his beatific science, by which from the first moment of his life, he saw the divine Essence more clearly than all the angels and read the past and the future with all its arcana and knowledge. He never knew by voluntary acquisition anything that he did not know by infusion from the first moment of his being; but He himself accepted all the weaknesses of our nature to which he could worthily submit. even when they were not necessary for the great work that he had to accomplish. Let us ask him that his divine faculties supply the weakness of ours and give them new energies; May his memory teach us to remember his benefits, his understanding to think of his, to do nothing but his will, what he wants and in his service.

From the soul of the Child Jesus, let us now move on to his body, which was a world of wonders, a masterpiece from the hand of God. He was not like ours, a hindrance to his soul, he was on the contrary a new element of holiness; he wanted it to be small and weak like all children and subject to all the discomforts of childhood to be more like us and participate in our humiliations. The Holy Spirit formed that little body with such delicacy and such an ability to feel, that he could suffer to excess to accomplish the great work of our Redemption. The beauty of that body of the Divine Child was superior to what has ever been imagined, and the divine blood that began to circulate through his veins from the moment of his incarnation, is the one that washes away all the stains of the guilty world. Let us ask him to wash ours in the sacrament of penance, so that on his happy Christmas day he finds us purified, forgiven and ready to receive him with love and spiritual benefit.

Day 4

The novena of Christmas day 4, corresponds to December 19. At the end of the prayer of the Christmas novena day 1, you must pray an Our Father.

From the womb of his Mother the Child Jesus began to put into practice his entire submission to God, which continued without the slightest interruption throughout his life. He adored his Eternal Father, loved him, submitted to his will; he resignedly accepted the state he was in, knowing all his weakness, all his humiliation, all his discomfort. Who of us would like to go back to a similar state, without full enjoyment of reason and reflection? Who could knowingly sustain such a prolonged martyrdom, so painful in any case? That’s where the Divine Child entered in his painful and humiliating career; thus he began to humble himself before his Father; to teach us what God deserves from his creature, to atone for our pride, the origin of all our sins, and to make us feel all the criminality and disorder of this pride.
