God of our salvation can be paraphrased as “our God of salvation.”
your wrath: The first section of this psalm says that the wrath of God has already turned from the people (v. Ps 85:3). But, until the restoration is complete, the people still feel the effects of God’s wrath. This suggests an understanding that the people’s problems were due to their own sin, disciplined by God.
Restore us: The people prayed for their own well-being and for a renewed ability to praise God.
mercy can also be translated “real love.”
