2. Romans 8:38-39

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither what is present nor what is to come, nor powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love that God has manifested us in Christ Jesus our Lord.
(Romans 8:38-39)

Brief reflection on Romans 8:38-39

There is absolutely nothing that can separate you from the love of God. It is a wonderful truth that fills the heart with peace and security. In a world so full of uncertainty, betrayal and pain, you can trust that God will always be by your side and that he will never stop loving you.

God has already given the greatest proof of his love for you and me. He gave his Son Jesus Christ to him to die on the cross. When you accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior you became the recipient of that promise in Romans 8:38-39. It is true that God has not promised a life free of problems or difficulties, but you can be sure that his love and his presence will accompany you in the midst of any situation.

Praise God today and thank him for the infinite love he has for you. Rejoice in the assurance of the Lord’s presence and care for you all the days of your life.

3. Habakkuk 2:1

I will keep alert, I will post myself on the embankments; I will be waiting for what you tell me, your response to my complaint.
(Habakkuk 2:1)

Brief reflection on Habakkuk 2:1

Do you eagerly await the answer to your prayers? The prophet Habakkuk had raised some questions before the Lord. There were situations that he could not understand and he approached God to present his questions and his requests. However, he didn’t just go on his way. Habakkuk remained alert like any good watchman, firm in the certainty that God would answer his prayers.

Do you present yourself before God with that same certainty? Due to the daily hustle and bustle, you may approach God with your list of requests and some memorized prayers without giving God time to speak to you or affirm you in his presence. What changes can you make in your day or week so you can have quality time with the Lord?

Yes, God answers your prayers. Do not hesitate! He always has and he will continue to do so. But by spending more time with him and by being more attentive to his response, you will be able to experience more of his peace. Your spirit will be strengthened and you will be able to face the challenges of life in a different way, holding the hand of your beloved Savior.

4. Isaiah 54:17

No weapon that is forged against you will prevail;
every tongue that accuses you will be refuted.
This is the inheritance of the servants of the Lord,
the righteousness that comes from me, declares the Lord.
(Isaiah 54:17)

Brief reflection on Isaiah 54:17

Do you feel attacks coming at you from all sides? Are there people plotting evil against you or speaking lies about you? If you are a servant of the Lord, you know that justice comes from him and you can trust that he will act in your favor. There are many times when we think that we cannot wait any longer, that we need God’s intervention immediately. But God knows the best time and the best way to show his justice.

Wait on the Lord. Trust in the inheritance that has been promised to you as a servant of God. Stand firm in faith and cling well to God. Remember what Psalm 27:13-14 says. God will work!

I would have fainted, if I had not believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; be strong and encourage your heart. Yes, wait on the Lord.
(Psalm 27:13-14, New American Standard Bible)

5. Psalm 40:1

I put all my hope in the Lord; he leaned towards me and heard my cry.
(Psalm 40:1)

Brief reflection on Psalm 40:1

Have you put all your hope in God? Surely sometimes it is not easy for you to wait for the Lord to answer your request. You may remember times when you decided to act on your own instead of waiting for God to work. Not the best idea. When you wait on God you receive the best, what is within his will. By waiting on him, well-being will come into your life because his ways are much wiser and better.

This verse gives us a very tender image of God. The Lord leaned toward the psalmist David and heard his cry. Imagine a mom or dad leaning in to listen to their beloved little boy. She approaches her because she is interested in hearing and understanding what is happening to her son, which makes her heart uneasy.

In the same way, God approaches you as a loving Father. He is not a distant God, he is close to you at all times. God hears your words and hears your cry. Talk to him! Don’t forget that you can trust him to act at the right time because he loves you and cares about you. Never stop hoping in God.

6. Psalm 97:1

The Lord is king!
Rejoice the earth!
Rejoice the remotest shores!
(Psalm 97:1)

Brief reflection on Psalm 97:1

How nice it is to praise God and recognize his greatness! In this verse the psalmist admits the reign of God, his lordship and exhorts creation to rejoice. We are part of creation and we should rejoice with it because God reigns. Just as the psalmist did, we must proclaim the lordship of God.

Surely things happen around you that you cannot understand. Sometimes it can seem that evil predominates. Always remember that God reigns. He is in control of everything that happens and he knows why things happen. The fact that God reigns should fill your heart with joy. If you have read the entire Bible, you know that the end is already written: God wins! He is the winner and he will reign for all eternity.

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, because the first heaven and the first earth had ceased to exist, just like the sea. I also saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared like a beautifully dressed bride for her betrothed. I heard a powerful voice from the throne saying, “Here, among human beings, is the abode of God! He will encamp in their midst, and they will be his people; God himself will be with them and will be their God».
(Revelation 21:1-3)

There will be no more curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city. His servants will worship him; they will see him face to face, and they will bear his name on their foreheads. There will be no more night; they will not need light from a lamp or from the sun, because the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign forever and ever.
(Revelation 22:3-5)

7. Psalm 40:5

Many are, Lord my God, the wonders that you have done.
It is not possible to enumerate your kindnesses in our favor.
If I wanted to announce and proclaim them, they would be more than I can count.
(Psalm 40:5)

Brief reflection on Psalm 40:5

There are so many blessings that God gives us! Have you ever tried to list all that God has done for you? The list would be very long and surely you would continually find more blessings to add. God is the great giver. He gave you life, your family, your friends, the nature that surrounds you, your brothers in Christ. Above all things, God has given you the blessing of knowing him and receiving the forgiveness of your sins.

With God you have the certainty of eternal life. You know that any suffering, illness or problem you have in earthly life will end. But your life with him is forever, it will last for eternity. That is the greatest blessing! Give thanks to God for all the goodness he has for you and live each day happily in the security of his presence and his forgiveness.

8. John 16:33

I have told you these things so that in me you may find peace. In this world you will face afflictions, but take heart! I have overcome the world.
(John 16:33)

Brief reflection on John 16:33

All human beings, including the children of God, go through times of illness, difficulty and pain. It’s part of life! To all this can be added the persecution by people contrary to our faith. These situations can cause us deep distress. However, in the midst of all that we can receive the peace of the Lord. How? Holding on to him and his promises.

Jesus spoke those words of the verse to his disciples shortly before he was imprisoned and crucified. He knew that they had difficult days ahead, full of confusion. They would see and experience things that would cause them much pain and uncertainty. For this reason, Jesus affirmed to them that in him there is peace and victory over the evil that the world brings.

Let us fill ourselves today with the peace of God in the midst of the situations that life presents us. Let us live with the certainty that in him we have already obtained victory over evil, over sin and over death.

9. Romans 5:8

But God demonstrates his love for us in this: that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
(Romans 5:8)

Brief reflection on Romans 5:8

God manifested his love for each one of us in a clear and unequivocal way. He decided to love us and acted accordingly: he sent his Son Jesus Christ. Christ died for us before we recognized our need for him and decided to follow him. The reality is that we did nothing to earn this great manifestation of love. Still, God showered upon us his unconditional love that brought us forgiveness and restoration.

The death that Jesus suffered for love of us was a cruel, shameful and very painful death. But he did it in obedience to the Father and out of love for each one of us. Because Christ died for us, we have received forgiveness of our sins. The barrier that separated us from God the Father was opened and now we can access the Father at any time. We can go in prayer before him, repent of our failures and receive forgiveness from him. Our relationship with the Father has been restored so that we can live with the assurance that we will be with him forever.

Let us never forget that immense love! Let us share the message of salvation and eternal life with all those around us.

Because the will of my Father is that everyone who recognizes the Son and believes in him has eternal life, and I…
